My first post in this forum - let me know what you think, and I hope you'll enjoy :)

Download/stream: Sinister Plan (3:16 / 5.23mb)

Note: This is for headphones only, I have no idea how it sounds on proper speakers. I'm waiting for some monitor speakers as I write these words.

Hm, it sounds like a wacky circus, but I feel like you should develop the melodies, make them twice as long maybe.
The production is okay, the soundscape is pretty dense and nice.

What I would work on are the melodies as they are a bit short / simple / not giving.

Agreed. I kept it simple for the sake of the genre to be quite fair, but perhaps I should have taken on the paradigm eih? I will next time now that you mention it - you see, I also make classical and a sort of fusion jazz (besides downright electronica) which is an entirely diff. sport when it comes to melodies. Melodies have never been my weakness actually.
I tried to drain the simplicity of the melodies in this instance with several breaks and sporadic progressions, so I agree the melodies are very simple. I thought that was why it was called Trance tho, because it's so repeative that it induces a state of trance, but trance is of course a tree of many branches these days.

this could be contrary to what you were going for, but I just felt like it needed some groove. the melodies and bass are very stiff. try adding some off beat notes.

other than that, it kept me interested. good work.

Not exactly contrary, we can never have enough groove, but I do try to keep your ears on other aspects of the soundscape. On arpeggios in particular. They are the "sinister" ones :)
