If you can get someone like your parents to throw some collateral behind it (they'll need to do an assessment on their property) about the best way to knock the rate down to something slightly less... painful

Dude it's Macquarie Bank. Their stocks to at $48 (well $57 today) is just too damn low, especially if you follow the market. It's virtually guaranteed they will eventually hit the 90s again, just a matter of time and with such a strong company, there's basically no chance of them ever going broke.

It's a fairly safe investement in one of the "blue chip" companies who are pretty much guaranteed to be a safe investment option.

I need to start getting more into the whole stock market as it looks like a great way to make money. Luckily my brother is in finance so he follows it pretty closely but I'll need to start doing my own research.

Maq's stocks are low for a reason, I'd suggest you keep looking at them in a little more detail as to 'why' ;)

ironic, because a company gave a report this week that basically slammed their business model... this same company also slammed centro before they got owned. although with that said, when they were up at $90, that was way inflated.. perhaps 65-70 is more realistic where they SHOULD be and will end up when things turn around? (assuming they truely are..I think it's a bit rushed to think that)

Hey! I opt for boycotting the whole monetary system. Let's withdraw every dollar and cent, cash in all your stocks and shares and throw all your brick and mortar on the market whilst you can. Whoever wants us to believe that money means security amongst other things is leading us around the garden path big time.
I am convinced that money and everything related to it is bringing out the animal in all of us and if you give it a minute of serious thought you get the drift of what I am hinting.

Before you shoot me now, please remember that I am your brother and this thread is about F^@$ing money and monetary investments.
...ever thought about the theory that the total value of money on this planet is fixed, very similar to the total weight mass of the planet. So if you gain, someone is loosing...(Inflation is relative by the way...)

By all means, try to own your modest home but stay clear from debt induced by materialistic desires. It is inhumane and undignified, fullstop!

Share what you have in abundance with the ones that you trust and appreciate and YES, it is more pleasure to fcuk the money than getting fcuked by it!!!

Though there is some merit in your disapproval of a capitalist society unless you can offer an alternative and viable solution we have two choices - either work within the system and use it to our advantage or bitch and cry about it and nothing really changes anyway.

At the end of the day, does it really matter to an investor though?

We can debate how good or bad their business model is until the cows come home, but all that matters is whether you can anticipate a rise and pounce on it at the right time.

Goes with what erratik said. We have no choice but to use the system as much as possible, as opposed to bitching about how it could be better. I have no qualms with making money where others can't.
