I've never really liked Tiesto's style... for the most part far too cheesy for me... but that just tops it off.
Techno rules, especially Acid Techno! Plus the roots of trance are in techno anyways...

In the April edition of Mixmag, there's a big article about Tiesto, and he was asked about things he doesn't like... he replied "coke, because it makes people all mean. Id rather they just have fun and take ecstacy". lol Ive also heard him say things like "trance is the only kind of music that DOESN'T make you have to pop an E to enjoy it". |
First and foremost does it matter?
Its not going to make him any less of a Dj or person if he does, what his recreational activities are, are his business and doesnt need to be glorified by desperate media reporters from Ministry magazine searching for a piece of scrappy news to post over their "April Drugs Issue" for s sake get over it Ministry!
That doesnt signify anything, i think Tiesto was outta line by making a comment like that, i strongly affirm that Djs who support this association between drugs and the electronic music scene are fueling a fire that needs to be burt out.
Paul van Dyk is a strong beleiver, like myself who thinks that the main catalyst behind "the scene" is that of the music.
This site alone is a perfect example of this.
By Tiesto making a comment like that about Ecstasy and its imapct on a crowd of people or people in general.
A statment like: "Id rather they just have fun and take ecstacy".
Is endorsing this illicit drug taking and is promoting something in society let alone the electronic music scene that needs and must be stopped as far as its continaul affiliation with music.
I have -no problems- at all with people taking drugs to "highten" their experience but please do not associate the music industry with such thrill seeking and magazine like Ministry should fkn wake up and see that the percentage of people seeking out coke and E in the UK is fkn astonishing and theyre doing nothing but contributing to the problem by placing Djs in a self incrminating position having to answer so stupid, un justified questions such as that. |

| I just know he's a big fan of Vodka Cranberry, as he drank quite a few when he was here. Drugs or not, he's still one of the best. |

No, he's saying that you enjoy techno only because you're on drugs.
You got it all backwards. :stongue: :stongue: :stongue: |
That's the same thing:
He said in order to enjoy techno, u have to take drugs. That's mean if u do actually enjoy techno, u ARE on drugs  |

Yeah exactly who gives a crap! Its up to him! To be honest do you think that he would be where he now if he didnt drop the odd pill? You would really have to understand what makes a croud tick how the music reacts to the drug, okay okay i know there are some people that bang on about drugs, rah rah rah bad for you rah rah, well to be honest, who cares. 90% of people at any dance event are on the bugggers!
I'm pretty sure that old van dyke would have dabbled at some point cause you would just have nooo clue what so ever! You would have ended up with Paul's mobile disco. |

Ok TA's. I didn't want to start a Tiesto flaming thread. I just wanted to know if he takes drugs because sh doesn't seem like he does. I'm not saying taking drugs is bad or good neither do I hold anything against anyone that does take drugs but personally I wouldn't.
Personally I think Tiesto is awsome!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D And I don't care if he does drugs as long as he plays awsome music! |

Yeah don't flame tiesto the mans a god, but yeah its up to the individual! i personnaly think 100% of all big name stars have taken / do take xtc.
But well if he does / doesnt he's still the best trance dj in the world at the minute :) |

Hes a known drinker and smoker
Not sure about drugs
quite obvious that he experimented with it.
Anyway Sasha has tried every drug out there and he smokes heavily
something like 3 and half cigarrete packs per day. |

| If i was in sasha's position, i would eat many many drugs aswell. Perhaps the key to being the best DJ in the world is cocaine and crack ;) |

This thread, i feel is no longer about Tiesto's stand on drug taking but the ideals of the accpetance of drugs and its associations with trance music...
its down hill from here...
