Romas are very intresting people imo, they are for example very good musicians, mostly in eastern europe, but ofcourse they are thieves too.. there are many gypsies in my neighbourhood and they are immigrants from balkan countries.. they have washing machines outside on the street and wash while talking to their neighbours
originally they come from India, they have wandered all the way to europe in many many years and have arrived to europe from different locations.. through turkey and russia and also marocco to spain, and there they invented the spanish flamenco
i had a project about gypsies in school and we had a gypsy who came to our class and we could ask him questions and so on..
And they always drive Mercedes Benz :p
also a good movie is "Time of the gypsies" its about criminal gypsies from yugoslavia who go to italy..

O'Callaghan's a pikey.
He steals chickens and parks his caravan on private property when he's not squatting in some squalid Northampton slum.

they're all over my small town this summer. they either sit outside the liquor store playing instruments or try stuffing flowers in your hands and scream that they want money.
my dad's friend was at some hotel or whatever, standing in the bathroom line. out of the bathroom comes this gypsy lady, that apparantly had pissed all over the floor. it's said they can't sit on the same toilet as a man, so they stand pissing..
nice friendly people. in fact, i'll invite some of them in for some tea and toast.

plenty of gypsies in louisiana

a gypsy put on a curse on my friend once...seriously. another gypsy yelled at my friend and i in gypsy talk followed us around a little park area and freaked us out. i don't particularly like gypsies.

Just went to Bucharest, the gypsyies are really strongly represented there - in all areas, especially in the underworld and the grey market. So yeah, the stereotype of them being living on the street and begging, cursing and stealing is a bit outdated. You see them in their S-Klasse Mercedes and controlling the clubs with dozens of tables covered with Vodka. All of them big, fat and decorated with golden rings and chains. Kinda creep - I was pretty scared to approach any girls there, since you never know if one of them belongs to "them", which can end up really bad.
The Romanian Sopranos if you will :wtf:

I wouldn't say that the stereotype is outdated. Of course there are gypsies with money. However, I saw quite a few of them last summer on my way to Carpathian mountains.
