It doesn't exist in this god forsaken country. Time too move to Berlin.
Also everyone scared of losing money  |
That's exactly what I'm getting at....if there's no market in canada, that largely explains why bookings for hard DJs have dried up! |

Tony Ezzy's ninja moved to Toronto. Who knows what that'll do to the MTL funk scene. |

There seemed to be a lot more people at Eclipse than Stereo or Eclipse gets in a month.
|
Eclipse is also a big festival that attracts people from across North America to it - it draws on far more than the local scene to support it.
While people may travel to Stereo from around Quebec/Ontario for a normal night (I know a few people from Toronto that make this road-trip somewhat frequently) - its not to often you'll get a large number of people traveling from across NA to go there for a 'regular night'.
While Psytrance may be huge in other parts of the world - it's still a growing scene over here. It seems to be getting bigger and more popular (I used to be HUGE into Psytrance, not so much anymore), but allot of people I know are turned off by Psytrance, especially fullon - because its too hard/fast/squelchy and can be rather relentless at times.
On a side-note, why is it that any time a person doesnt like a genre, they say that "the only way people can enjoy it is if they are high?"
I sort of moved from Psytrance into techno/minimal - and gotta say, I love the stuff - even 100% sober. Theres been more than a few nights where a good DJ has kept me glued to the dancefloor far longer than my body wanted to allow me while running on fumes simply because the set was so good that it kept me moving non-stop.
The thing I like about minimal, is that it chugs along just fast enough to keep me moving without the need for 'enhancements' - theres peaks, breaks, builds - moments where it can get intense/faster/harder, then lets up to give you a breather - its much easier to dance all-night to 128-135bpm set and go for hours.
I find when I'm being bombarded with 140bpm+ for the entire night - I tire out too quickly and crash. |

Some really hard trancy sets. Everyone loves hard fast tempo beats so why don't the clubs here play anything good? |
:wtf:
i'd leave if i heard hard fast tempo beats at a party.
not everyone enjoys trance, techno, psy-trance, all those sub genres that include music which have an average bpm of 140++++...i'd run farrrrr farrrrrrrrr away personally... |

What?
How could you not like it? Sorry I just think it's very wierd, the music you listed is what the whole scene was about. I guess you have never been to a real rave? |

lol...not all of us got into the scene eating jib and raving out to more beats than we can count.
Think of how small the EDM population is relative to all music worldwide, and then think how many of those people like 140+ bpm....it is a very small number of people, realtively speaking. |

You'd have to do a lot of Jib and other stuff to enjoy the slow ass commercial blend (that sounds like one long track) played at the club these days.
Oh well at least I had my fun. I think I will just attend Eclipse once a year.
I prediect Stereo and Circus will not last longer than one more year.
What you people don't understand is that to really like the slow minimal housy stuff you have to acquire a taste for it. New people like boucing uplifting music. They really don't care what it is as long as it's catchy and a they can dance hard. Without this there is very few people entering the scene. Eventually it will just die out cause of this music. I've never seen a club busier and fun to go to then when Aria had Preach playing on Fridays a few years back. Every time I brought a newbie there they thanked me and had the best time of thier life. Now when I bring new people out to like Stereo or Circus they sort of like it but don't think they really like the music and they sit down half the night. Maybe if you do herion or something? Is that what I am missing? Are you guys doing some type of newer different drugs? |

Q: Why don't DJs play hard beats?
A: We are currently in a minimal neo-trance phase. Seriously, the other night, I passed by a club, circus and stereo and I heard Domino from OXIA in all three places...
Just yesterday at Beach Club...Bad Boy Bill playing Holden tracks...insane...Eddy Jasmin playing Gui Boratto...wow...
This being said, we are definitely on the last few miles of neo-trance or melodic minimal beats. DJs are starting to play more Prog again. Minimal tracks are getting more techno. Also some excellent new or upcoming releases that sound pretty in techno to me...just different that it used to sound...
So I think it's just a matter of time before you hear ''harder beats'' when you go out. It will just never be as monotonous and relentless as it used to be at Aria for example...Techno beats by Carl Cox are being replaced by techno beats by Dubfire... |

Are you kidding?
Slower bpms are far more accessible and common place than 140bpm techno. Music that is "uplifting" often corresponds more to the melody or the vocal than it does to bpms. You go to a mall and play 140bpm shranz vs a 125-130bpm vocal tek house track and see what the average person relates to more.
Unless by new people you mean new people using drugs in a club environment...
I like my harder techno but it is far more of an acquired taste, with a smaller group of followers, than the slower versions of techno floating around these days. |
