well ash normally i don't critique trance because its not my thing. however i can tell you what's missing from this.
all your instruments have a very small attack and short release. this causes(no matter how much processing you do, unless its playing with time) to sound very dry. the reason your track has no swing to it is because the percs are dry, on top of a dry off beat bass, on top of an even dryer lead.
musicians through around the term 'swing' a lot these days but most people are talking about making a groove out of something thats ungroovy. :) you need short delays, phaser boosts, chorus tail lines, SOMETHING to get these things to flow together.
the pads and the bigger lead early on has some kind of it but again, the reason it sounds dry and the reason you probably went thru a million samples before finding very few that work was because again of this swing.
eq sounds fine, compression seems really low on the percs. squelch those together and use some make up gain. melodies and such fit, again not critiquing musically notation here but the track moves along fine. |
