Getting 1st Car...want help

So I have yet to have a need for a car until now. I know jack squat about cars. There is this 1991 Black Mercedes 190e for sale for 1,500. It has no antenna, the sun roof is broken, and it has a boat load if mileage, however a new transmission. I know it looks like an old man wennie so is there anyway wit this car for me to put a body kit, and LED lights and a spoiler ect on it? Also random but are LED lights under cars legal in CA? I've looked around but I cant get a 100% answer.

PS the car in the picture is different from the one i'm looking at.
Spacey Orange
how much room is there in the back seats? legroom, head room, ;)

I wouldn't recommend buying one of those.

My first car was a 190E, and the repair costs are just a joke because of the rareness of parts.

Each service was costing me a minimum of $1000 dollars, and I even had one big bill of $3000.

Putting aside the the high repair cost, they are great cars. Very safe and very comfortable.

What's the mileage by the way? When I got hold of mine it had done about 250,000km as I remember, or 156,000 miles.

Meh, just buy a Corolla. They're cheap, and easy/cheap to fix, and they're sweet on fuel too. And if you're into that rice stuff, well, yeah, I'm sure you can mod it up or something :/

body kits are gay. All that show stuff is only going to get you ridiculed by:
1. everyone.
Cops will even give you a hard time cus they look so ty. Yes, having a gay looking car IS an illegal on-road distraction.
If you think a girl will ride your 'cus u got a double decker (or is it called 2-story) spoiler, it's a dead wrong assumption, unless you're hoping to hook up with some 14 years old ADHD middle schoolers at an Harry Potter convention.

just get the car, learn the rules of the road. Within a year, you'll have a better car to work on and impress the ladies with. Maybe it will even come with a GT-R badge on the back! First cars are SUPPOSED to be ty, don't spend more money than needed on it.

Can confirm...except for the part about cars impressing women. What kind of wit woman judges a man by the car he drives, or the clothes he wears? Oh, wait...

I agree.

Perhaps not a Corolla in particular, but buy a car, or at least a brand of car, that is very common in your country.

Toyota/Hyundai/Chevy?/Dodge? Are dodge and chevy even common?

Yes, if you buy a Hyundai or something like that, it's not the coolest car in town, but you'll be laughing when your repairs cost a quarter of everyone else's, and your running costs are simply spare change.

I got another quote; it's at another shop until the end of the week.

If you remember correctly, the original clowns were quoting $8000.

The second guy thinks it's the sensor chip that monitors the transmission and controls the changes, not the transmission itself. He's quoted $1000.

I fail to see how you can get such a massive difference in opinion. Surely, you open the car up, look at the part, and then see if it's ed or not?!

To be honest, I was kind of looking forward to buying a new car, regardless of the massive cost involved. I was planning on the lovely Golf GTI :D

:wtf: Yeah, well that's just a bit of a difference huh.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind one of those too. Black, with black mags (IMO).

0-100km/h in 6.9 secs, and the 250W sound-system. That's all I care about. :p

The R32 would be even nicer, but I don't think I could justify the extra cost to even my greedy self. :D

Haha, yeah. Has the new r32 been released in Australia now? Haven't seen one anywhere yet.

Edit: Mind you, it is Backwater Brisbane I'm talking about
