Then again, the former has it's double meaning, and I certainly were in good spirits during Peak Control 100. Thank you, John, and may there grow the biggest tree in the world from the overflowing energy you didn't get to use.

Well that was completely out of place.

I don't understand why they even had to mention it at all... I figured he was gay as soon as I saw that his fiance's name was "Brad". They shouldn't have had to point it out.

But whatever... I've heard this guys name from time-to-time but never had any idea who he was... never heard his dj sets or songs... still sad to hear this...

On an off-note... does anybody else think he looks like he could be John Digweed's brother or son? Splitting image I think.

Very sad news. My condolences to all who knew him personally.

They should have removed the sentence altogether.
I mean, what on earth does being gay have to do with music production?

The sentence that follows is actually quite hilarious when you think of it (not taking into account the main context of course):
quote:
Regardless of this Paul did not stop to strongly produce and be fully connected with the music industry until the time of his death.
Revox
Rest in peace John Avenida. You will be missed!

I'm sorry to hear that someone young has died again. I wish the very best to him in the endless peace, and may he even there, be carried with the wind.

Rest in Peace John Avenida

I don't know who he is, but rest in peace.
Iron Fist
R.I.P. John Avenida.

I really hoped to have listened to more of his music but unfortunately now he is in a better place.
BiG MiKE
Flying in the skies he is. We'll see him again.

RIP

Many people out there were not aware that John Avenida aka Paul Mclean was also gay.

The next sentence is ridiculous and offensive as well.

Anyways, my condolences. RIP.
SENSEGENERATEFM
Hi Everyone,

My name is Ivan, Owner & Founder of SenseGenerate.FM. I honestly could not believe how much everyone has blown this post out of proportion. Although i'm here to hopefully clear things up for the people that blow things out of proportion.

Paul aka John Avenida came to me about 2 years ago and also becoming the first resident on SenseGenerate.FM. Until the time of his death Paul was the longest remaining resident on SenseGeenrate.FM. He had helped the station form into what it is today in many ways. His dedication and view of the vision I had in building a station for better music, streaming, & all around great residents was continuous. I would have to say that he was quite committed to his show Peak Control on SenseGenerate.FM and other stations that this show was airing as well.

As for mentioning that he was "gay"...now, hopefully I can clear things up for those people that live for drama. I was unaware that John Avenida was gay until one of my staff members made me aware of this. The main reason why i posted a comment for him being gay was because of the pressure I have seen gay people experience. Myself and my wife have gay friends and know the social issues, political bull, & other things that they have to go thru just to be accepted within our society. By no means his status as a friend, producer, & dj would have changed in my mind or the station itself knowing that he was gay or not.

I'm not quite sure why would any of you backfire at a comment that we had made on our forum if you would have known the friendship that me and Paul, and other residents from our station previously had.

The news of his death came as a complete shock to me considering in August 2007 I was to join Peak Control with him and Gabriel Setis (another resident of SenseGenerate.FM).

As we speak SenseGenerate.FM is putting together an event, a full day dedication to John Avenida with special guestmixes from some of Paul's close friends.

Paul was a good friend, Dj, & a great producer....let's remember him this way.

Thanks for Your Time!

Sincerely,
Ivan

People don't think it's appropriate to mention someone's gayness in their obituary, more so if nobody knew about it when they were alive.

Interpreted in a way, it seems to imply that gay people don't contribute to the music industry because of their gayness.

Yep...

Ivan, some things are better said unsaid... I think the majority of us are just pointing that out, rather than suggesting you're a bigot.
