Come to think of it i've never heard anyone brag about going to a Private School.

which is not what i meant anyway.

I mean it's people who went to public schools who always want to bring up first that they think people who went to private schools have some sort of superiority complex, when it is in fact their inferiority complex talking all along :)

haha i know i was kidding

i've never heard anyone brag about going to a fancy school either

i have however seen some pompous pricks come from private schools, which is i think what pkc meant as well

which i attribute to having too much money, and being spoilt s, more than the actual school itself.

well, i dont think anyone here is gonna accuse me of having an inferiority complex :D

anywayz, my comments are just from personal experience, meeting my sister's friends etc. if you keep the same type of company, year in year out its almost inevitable that your viewpoints become somewhat stagnant when not confronted with diversity. but hey, maybe that's just the particular girls at the particular schools my sister attended.

my comments weren't necessarily directed at you pkc, it was a general observation from my own experience.

Having 'stagnant viewpoints' is a little different than a superiority complex is it not?

not if those "stagnant viewpoints" revolve around their superior wealth status; viewing those outside the "norm" as inferior. seen it many times. their almost universal disdain for the under-privileged and their lack of understanding fvcked me right off.

maybe ive just listened to too many snobby bitches in my time?

Damn right the private schools should receive government funding.
I went to private for all my education, except one year, and the difference is phenomenal. Private schools are way better in terms of the opportunities and resources you get. In a public school, the teachers dont give a if you slack off or are falling behind. Or if you are doing well, you still have to be around losers that arent.

A higher number of students from private go to university. Around 75% of my year.

And my family is far from wealthy, my parents still wanted us at private schools, and i'd do the same for my kids.

So all this publicly funded private school nonsense is stupid. We all publicly fund centrelink as well. And what are a lot of those people giving back to us?

Haha...in a way I agree with that, however, only someone who went to a private school would say that! Did you go to a private school Dean? I'm guessing yes.

In that regard, women are far, far worse than men.

The girls from our "sister" private schools were the biggest bunch of superficial snobs I've ever met, but not many of the bloke schools seemed to be like that.

By the way, when I say "private"; I'm referring to the twelve or so all boy schools in Melbourne established circa 1900.

Although any school mostly funded by the parents is technically private, I find that the attitudes and values of people who attend the newer schools such as Marcellin, Parade, Ivanhoe Grammar, St. Bernards, Salesian etc, are a lot closer to that of public school graduates than they are to the “snobby” clique from the inner Melbourne private schools.

Are you on drugs????!!!!

Private schools are doing BETTER, so we should give them MORE money???

The money should be going to state schools so that they can improve and close the gap between the quality of education from the two, if, as you say, the education is better at private schools.

Have you thought about the fact that a lot of people can’t afford to go to private schools? Or don’t want to, even if they can afford it? (know a lot of people in this boat, and I don’t blame them)

Private schools may work wonders for some, but they don’t seem to have instilled you with masses of common sense.
