What does everyone think is the easiest genre to mix!?
I personally think trance and hardcore are possibly the hardest..
I say this, because after playing with a few of my brothers electro tracks, I thought my mixing is seamless and I'm not even trying. I thought, no wonder there are so many generic house djs out there. Because in terms of beat matching, tune selection, structuing sets etc. Its a hell of a lot easier.
Do people agree or disagree? |

house is probably the easiest... its slow... has intros and outros that are relatively predictable...
trance music is a BIT harder... i suppose if u just cue up your next track at the end of the last break on the outgoing track, its quite easy (boring tho)... i always try and get the next track cued up so that the basslines and melodies either mesh together (for sonically compatible tracks), or start/end at the same moment (for noticeable changes in key).
breaks music is tough if ur easily confused by patterns... but once u sort out the rhythms and learn to pay attn to the snares on the 2 and the 4, and the kick on the 1... which are usually consistant, its not much harder than 4 on the floor.
dnb isnt really that hard... seems like it at first but just pay attn to the snares on the 2 and the 4... they are loud, crisp and clear. only real difficulty is the fact that the tracks are fast and short so u need to think a bit faster. i always tend to take FOREVER to figure out my next track so im always rushing my beatmatching with dnb haha. |

I find trance the easiest since it's pretty much the same during every transition, there isn't much room for creativity since the formula seems to be way too strict.
Well, modern day trance anyway. |

| I'd guess that ambient/chill would be easiest, assuming that you're playing in compatible keys. Then again, I've never tried mixing that. |

| the few times ive tried to mix ambient ive found it rather difficult... im not very good at beatmatching when there is little or no percussion... |

| Speedcore, the people listening don't even care if you trainwrecked because they are to high on drugs. |

New York style Hard House.... there are so many different tribal drums firing off that nobody will be able to tell when you trainwreck, they'll just think its part of the song!
I'm hardly a DJ, aside from making some mixes for fun in my spare time, but I feel electro house is pretty easy for me due to its real crisp production and predictable flow. I had a load of trouble a few years ago trying to mix 2-step/UK Garage... and even back then, finding competently-mixed 2-step compilations was pretty hard, there were lots of clanging on professionally released compilations. |

| Definitely house music, pretty much all tracks have a driving kick all the way through. |

| Any EDM with a 4/4 dance beat and most electronic music is easy to mix for me. The hardest would have to be disco music because that music uses real instruments and relies on human tempo so I always find myself adjusting the beatmatching a lot until the transition is over. |
