Comment: Sasha says, “he’s one of the fastest rising talents on the DJ circuit...a fantastic producer”. An unnamed DJ whispers, “he’s the best DJ in the world”. Various music magazines call him “the next Sasha”: Sander Kleinenberg
Tonight, he is back to play at the club where his 1st ever US date took place – Soma Lounge. On a lengthy US tour to promote his new Essential CD, Sander is spreading his musical gospel from coast to coast. However, this gig is special….and the people entering the club know it. Kurt Yates, the Soma star, warmed up the evening beautifully with some deep sounds and moving melodies. As the people streamed in, they were greeted by familiar beats which one couldn’t help but dance to.
As Sander came on around 12, the now packed house gave him a proper cheer. Off he went! The first two hours of his set were pleasantly progressive. From then on, things got weird (in that good, “what track is this?!” way).
Tunes like “ sonnet”, Underworld’s “mmm skycraper i love you”, and a ridiculous amount of unknown tracks had given the crowd a terrible case of dance fever. Crazy telephone call samples were being mixed in to set that was already bordering on manic. Some 3 ½ hours into his set, the real substance of his skills and eclectic music tastes began to emerge. Downtempo, break beat, dirty house, and even a Grandmaster Flash track were all put together into an intricate soundscape. Then, two hundred and forty minutes after starting, he was finished. There was not a record or CDR in his collection that had not been played. The sweaty, awed crowd that had remained until the very end was now clapping and showing respect towards a DJ who had transcended all the hype. Surf the Global Underground message board or look on audiogalaxy for this very special set. It’s out there….and also really “out there”.
so worth downloading this one (definatly) (at audiogalaxy)
