Still haven't voted. I do it for the feeling. Those who gotten big also do.

Most of them arsseholes out there do it for the chicks and money. Which one should I choose then?

I have a feeling most do it for the money. I myself aspire to be a DJ because of the music but the money/fame is nice...

ok let's see,

if you are a dj you have to earn money for your sets because you have to buy records and tt's and mixers...
i think if you where a producer then you should do it for the money and a litle for the music but a DJ???... i should do it for the feelings...

i couldnt vote because some DJs do it for the money and some dont...

i have a feeling though the big DJs that "DO" make the real money like Oakenfold, Tiesto, and PVD for example do it for the love of the music (but also need the money because its their occupation aswell as their obsession)...they do need to live...

but i think there is a difference between someone doing something they have such a passion for and getting paid for it as a bonus as oppose to someone who goes into just for the money...know what i mean....and those who do "usuallY' go into just for the money tend not to last very long...

In todays music industry we have so many artists who go into just for the money (notm meaning trance - but the ENTIRE music industry)...we have boy-bands and the such , and even rap artists and rockers who are orchestrated and produced purely for the money...these people are taken off the street and, mainly because of their style or looks, and thrown into a room and told to read lkyrics of a page then they mass produce this garbage to the public and people buy it....it is those people who do it for the MONEY and could care less about the music, of course there are exceptions..but to few..

Now witrh Trance/Techno etc..i feel the majority of DJs are in it for the love of the music...and i feel u can tell this buy their live performances...by their energy and vibe...how they conduct themselves on stage..and how they feed of the adrenaline rush they get from the crowd because of the track they just dropped....these are the DJs who will last and the ones who will love our music for all time...these are the DJs i love...

Voted for the 1st option, I was an idealist here but... I do know that a lot of dj's do it only for money... nothing more nothing less
TranceCluber
djs should do it souly of the love of what they do...but everthing is far from the truth .. many are in it for the money which isnt much for majority of dj...most djs are poor but real djs are djs who stick there guts when it comes to the music and wouldnt change there style to get a gig ....many djs do that so i would consider that they are in it more so for what they can get out of it rather then there own satisfaction

for the music & and the feelings you get when you are spinning
Nightmonger
I'm not a dj and even if i used to spin at some friends parties i do not consider myself a dj but i think that spinning to get chicks is sad and lame ... i mean do you really need to be a dj to engage chicks ? In the same way i consider stupid those girls goin with guys just 'cause they're djs while they'd not even get a look at them if they weren't ...
If you're not in love with what you're spinning you're missing the essence of being a dj imo.
Just my 2 humble cents.

sometimes i doubt it, but i think they are in because they like it.. in the end, it is like any other job, but you need to be really good as a DJ to make money..

think of it this way:

If you get offered a job, that you might/ will not like, but do it for the money, you would know right away how much money you are going to make in what time.
In the entertainment industry, in order to get paid for DJ'ing you need to be good. When you start DJ'ing, I think you need to have a passion for it, since you have NO IDEA, if you would ever make money from it.. As you progress upwards on the DJ ladder, it might be that someday you notice, damn i hate DJ'ing, but i am getting money from it, so i will continue, but in the end, I believe every DJ started out with a passion for it...

I agree with everybody when they say that DJ's spin for the feeling that they get, but they do have to make money. If they don't make any money then they can't keep buying newer and better stuff then what they already have. I would look at it as a "dream" occupation....imagine, you are making money to do something that truely makes you feel good, and you love what you are doin....thus the dream job.
