decline of the state of TV

TV has been on the decline for many years but am I alone in thinking that this years TV really has been the pits, across all channels?
jamie
Its shocking, i can say ive hardly watched tele this summer, all i've done is watch DVDs
Quantized
Yup, have to agree, i have barely watched any TV for the last year or 2. I can remember watching it a hell of a lot more years ago. Only stuff i watch these days (on freeview) is news, top gear, formula 1, match of the day, random sport events, jonathan ross, random bbc documentaries, and the odd decent movie.

I stay well clear of soaps, reality shows, ty weekly 'comedy' shows.

As I said to you many times Mr Coup, you get what you pay for (the exception being the bbc) and on sky there's enough channels with shows I enjoy to keep me happy.

good channels/shows

living tv - csi/csi miami, x-files re-runs
fx - family guy, dexter, x-files
hallmark - house, law & order plus all the spinoffs, diagnosis murder, jericho etc
Discovery/Geographic etc - intelligent documentaries. No sign of that guy from the bbc who's in just about everything.
sports - sky is way superior in coverage with the exception of the london based commentators who make david pleat sound intelligent
sky one - simpsons, futurama, malcolm in the middle, law & order, 24, lost etc

the only use for normal telly i have is the odd good thing on 5, whatever live sport is on, which isn't much nowadays, anne robinson humiliating people in the weakest link and homes under the hammer/neighbours/to buy or not to buy

IMO Sky has gone downhill bigtime. Can sit all night channel hopping and its all complete junk. The Wine Channel?? WTF :(

Thesedays I just get the good stuff that I want on DVD or bittorrent.

agreed, why watch something on the weekly when you can grab it all online...and months ahead of UK schedules.

I only ever watch TV now if i'm eating and want something mindless to watch for 5-10 minutes.

otherwise it's downloaded anime/tv shows.

UK programming is really quite dire. The majority of content I watch is created in the US, which is something I'm not 100% proud of.

Although I suppose I watch plenty of footy/F1, which makes it worth while investing in a TV licence.

i dont have to time to watch tele, unless im round my gfs house, even then we get sick of big brother and all the other e that comes with it, but honestly...its gone to
Endlesswave
From what I've seen sky one should take it. Saw this one show called "Football hooligans" or something like that, which was just nuts. At my cousins place they get a lot more channels then at my aunts who get next to nothing.

Bravo FTW!

Lunar Phase 7
give it 10 years and tv wont even exist.

Bring Back Bottom and Red Dwarf!
