I don't think I've tuned into that station since I moved here. Why not tune into energy for edm?

hard to believe though.....seeing clubs packed with people every weekend atleast someone should look into this direction.

It's not that much. There are about 5 EDM clubs, which serve a couple of thousand people. The Entertainment District alone has 40,000 people passing through every weekend. EDM fans still make up a tiny percentage of the clubbing crowd in toronto. You just part of the scene so it seems like a lot to you, but for a city of toronto's population, that's really not that much.

A strictly EDM station like you're suggesting would probably have this timeline: it would start out playing only EDM, gather a tiny regular listener base, start losing money, try to get more listeners by going a bit more commercial, then more commercial, and finally they'll be a direct competitor with Z103 who'll kill them because they're so widely known. End of story.

You're making solid points but I really do think that right now is the best time for people to start thinking up ideas for an all-EDM radio station. There are so many genres and people are being drawn to it at quite the astonishing rate now that ratings would steadily increase as long as they have the right personalities on the air with a concept that will cater to people who are new to this kind of music.

ID&T Toronto? Who knows, one day...

yea, they play decent tunes. but the announcers talk too ing much, and usually about useless . once one of them went for 10min reminiscing about how some track reminded her of cotton candy at the fair. it really pisses me off sometimes.

now "The Wave 94.7FM" is my channel of choice. lots of amazing tracks (including plenty of downtempo/nu-jazz) and very minimal talk. thats pretty much all i listen to in my car.

Because Energy only operates on FM from 10pm-6am daily.

why cant we have radio station dedicated strictly for edm? that actually is live 24/7 and anyone can hear it whenever they turn it on in their cars, homes,or anywhere where radio signal reach.

for example:-

Just like how Flow 93.5 plays urban music including hip-hop, reggae, and R & B.

They have these in Montreal I think, where EDM is more the norm.

ENIGMA on The Wave 94.7FM now! WOOOT!

even with an EDM radio station, EDM listeners themselves probably won't listen to half of it because of all the sub-genres. I know a lot of you guys can't stand trance at all like-wise with house. What if people were requesting hardstyle or DnB? There's just too many people to please. With Z103.5 they please everyone and have top 40 stuff which makes them a lot more popular.

Anyways back to the original post:

I remember the host was playing Marco V - Red Blue Purple and they were saying it's brand new, I believe this was in February when the song was out longer than a year ago.

Same thing with Joop - The Future, they had it on pump it or dump it couple weeks ago. I was surprised about the results though 80% pumped, this is amazing considering The Future is basically as Trance as it gets compared to all that Euro stuff they play (Rockell - In a Dream).

lol yup yup!
In this area our station is 91.5 The Beat, which is mostly Hip-Hop and R&B. SOME alternative songs and Canadian songs now and then, but mostly Hip-Hop YOOO! lol

Z103.5 we do get here, so sometimes I turn it on lol. The morning show is usually pretty funny.

I have CDs playing most of the time though lol.

Didn't ID&T turn commercial? And that's in Holland where trance is supposedly huge right? A station like that would have no chance in Toronto. I think people like The Future because it has a bit of that euro-gino sound that people love so much.

Vince is right...

EDM has so many genres and stuff that it would be hard to please everyone, which doesn't help since there would be such a small listener base to begin with.

Trying to find the proper balance between Trance/House/Techno/DnB/Others would be quite difficult...
