the bass is floor thumpin boss

when you can couple a phat "alarm" bass sound with a single note patterned bassline, the effect is really in hot. totally in the now for tech and i love it. somebody mentioned a few random arp effects intertwined and theyre right on the money aka im thinking either highly distorted sine or more popularly - square low sustain with a gated reverb. poss automate the sustain for different notes for a techy feel.

I don't find the mix that offensive, maybe a little too much mud in the low end, but the saw sounds good to me. This could be my earphones of course.

It seems to be a good track, definately a good bed, but personally I suspect it needs a little bit more. If it was me, I'd try for a breakdown and get a really big melody going there, maybe something with a string type sound. Of course, the track sounds complete without it, its overall very professional, but a little bit more work could make it brilliant IMO.
Great potential, congratulations.

Thanks for your detailed feedback Mark!

I guess that you updated the link given in your first post, cause I can only listen to a 2:16 min long snippet of your track.
But what I can can listen during these two minutes sounds much promising.
Although it is very repetitive you did a great job on fx and especially the subtle bass. The 'whoosh' effect at the beginning and about 0:55 is to loud. Apart from this subjective aspect I can't see any other mistakes.
I think that it would work fine on a dancefloor.

I am ing enamored with this tune. The percusion and bass are just plain cool. Thanks again for the cool tunes.

Nice Minimal Tech intro, lol, the beat is really nice, when the bass shows up, sounds very addictive.
Great rythmn, funky, I like it :).

Kopi =o.

HAHA! Thanks mate! That's genius.

Thanks to everyone who has given me feedback. I'm really greatful, and to be honest quite surprised that I've generated this much interest.

I'm going to go back to this track soon and update it, I've taken into consideration ideas about arps and extra funky bits. And there is a bit of muddiness, that comes from my kick combo, used one sample for the click and another for the low end/subs. I already have a break but it's a bit sparse, It builds nicely but it needs some kind of arp or something. I've tried a crazy delayed xylophone but that didnt work! I'm also thinking of posting a full 96kbps version.

I'll post the newest version when I get round to editing it but I'm not working on it in the next few weeks. However I'll keep people informed.

Again, thanks for the feedback everyone, Vegas - you've made my day!

Wow, sounds great. The bass synth is insane.
cenik
Definitely some catchy elements in this song!

One complaint: the background bass (the boom boom boom) sounds a little hollow and generic to me.

I think this is really good. The second kick to come in (i think its a kick) bothers me a little, too long and reverby, i think it drowns out some other stuff a bit. That little build up (about a min in) is mental! lol Its sounding wicked mate, not what i produce so can't offer any tips regarding the production, but sounds professionally done.

Cheers,
Alex

Thanks for the feedback circles, eldritch, cenik and alex.

cenik: I don't know which bit you're taking about, are you talking about the kick? I don't have many kick samples that I like, it usually takes me a while to find decent ones. If you could point me in the direction of some tasty free kick samples then I will gladly replace it! :D

alex: (congrats on the DI.fm airplay!) I don't know which kick you are talking about, there is only one.. Do you mean the bassy synth that comes in playing in 3/4?

It really is a bit poor with regards to mixdown but when I get time and am not distracted by college/making a new tune (!) then I'll re-visit this. You guys will be the first to hear.. I'm going to be posting a new tune here soon so keep your ears peeled!

Cheers

hmmm great intro, and the sound is very clean overall :) loved your bassline...great sound...only thing that bothered me a bit was that buildup through automating it's filter...it sounded like there's some strange distortion on it for a few seconds and ... I don't know it just threw me off, I like your percussions and the melodies :)

there's really some beauty in simplicity...this song is a proof...

yeah that was a compliment :)
