Hi TAs, since Imma have a home studio very soon Im looking for a desk that can hold some equipments (2 screens, midi keyboard, pc keyboard, a bunch of midi controllers, a mixer, 2 monitors and more to come).

Im looking for something pretty wide, with quite some depth, and especially not made in Sweden.
Any good furniture stores in Montreal selling good value desks??

If you don't mind a bit of DIY work:

Go to reno depot.

Get a door that has not had the doorknob hole pre drilled ($30).
(for a simple desk, yes this is better than using MDF)

It will be 80" long by anywhere from 15" to 40" deep, up to you.

Buy aluminum legs ($17 each).

Throw on a coat of paint if you want to...

Voila, huge custom desk space for < $100. If you want to put a bit of time into it, it can be quite nice... I just did this myself + a bit more custom shelving on top (another $10)... looks great, will take a pic once I have the gear in place. :)

Thats clever Leif. will consider this option with care...

I would think of something like this (but in one piece)

Like an "upper part" where i could put my screens.

PS : im terrible at handworking :clown:

Yeah I built an upper part for my screens. Made it wide enough to fit my studio monitors also... and the midi keyboards + controllers fit neatly underneath. :)

It's easy to build the upper part since you can buy lots of wood in 16"-18" widths, and 96" lengths (im guessing theyre supposed to be for making shelves in book cases or something).

Just cut the shelf to length and use the cutoff to make the supports.

Pic with about half the gear in place...

We painted the walls that colour because it was called studio grey :p
