Prodcuution wise, this is some sick stuff overall.
Djing...well I saw him last night, and it became very evident he's a producer first and foremost.. I'll leave it at that. |
Live performance isn't djing |

yay. another chinstroker.
i remember when i used to go to a club just to have a good in time, and listen to good music. i guess i dont look cool enough coz i dont use CDjs. :(
oh well... maybe i'll run out and grab a pair of CDjs n practise all that so i can look like a real DJ and learn how to do that neat...cdjing stuff.
meh. it is what it is bro. |

That wasn't meant to be harsh dude. I know it is what it is, and I enjoyed your show (in Vancouver). I was just stating what I thought, and by the sounds of it, what you already know. Sure get cdj's is you want to be a "real dj" like you mentioned. It wasn't about looking cool enough, you looked like you were having a pretty good time, which is more than I can say about some performances.
Also when you go to a club not knowing a single person, its harder just to walk around and have a good time and not pay close attention to the set.

So is anyone who uses a laptop now considered a live performance? |

i'd think so.
live performances meet my bare minimum definition of a DJ which is a person who plays tracks with deliberately programming by the person using a form of media.
But it's not 'traditional' DJing as we know it.
do you think live PA performances are DJing then? |
|
|
| daphunky1 |
| Well I'd disagree. Why can't you just be using some program to mix on your laptop instead of on vinyl or cdj's? If you're just mixing, where's the live aspect? |

| Mixing with Software is DJ'ing - it isn't live PA. |

| ill be sure to check out a performance from the mau5 when he is booked near me. i dont care if a dj plays tracks on a twin tape deck and doesnt even bother beatmatching. its the tunes and the audio enjoyment that count. |

Mr. mau5, plz remix the song that never ends.
Deadmau5' extended to ING infinity mix +1.
Would go offffffffffff in da club.
Seriously though, I like quite a few of the tunes, "Hey Baby" is still my favorite just because of how damn rumbly that is, I swear to god I had it playing and started falling off my desk, I was like wtf this ain't Tokyo.
Maher and I in hooted at your sig, there aren't enough jokes about that track. |

Foreplay is one of the best prog trance tunes ever made imo - just has a gorgeous feeling to it, its a goosebumper!
I see what you mean - the melodies are quite similar but I still think they are both fairly different in relation to most of the other elements. |
