Say you're robbing a small 7/11 or some . Out of all the surveillance camera recordings I've seen, never have I witnessed a crook take the scratch tickets. It's always an idiot taking the cash register money and a pack of ing cigarettes...
Why?
Wouldn't you rather take the scratch tickets? I mean, you already robbed the damn place. Might as well increase your chances of winning a million. |

Those are all marked anyways. As soon as they left the store they'd be worthless even if they were winners. |

Because the tickets have codes on them and when reported are automatically invalidated. :gsmile: |

FYI, they do. Having handled a great many insurance claims for theft from convienance stores I can assure you that cigarettes and lotto tickets are stolen quite frequently. The difference is the the people walking into a 7-11 with a knife are amatures... it's the pros that get the smokes and lotto tickets, they tend to break into stores that aren't open 24/7 and load up a van. You don't see the video on tabloid tv because it's not exciting, since you don't see it you don't take note of it. |

Seems like I read a story once about a man who robbed a convenience store and stole the scratch-off tickets, only to win like $1200 from one of them and go back to the same convenience store he held up to try and redeem his ticket, only to be nabbed minutes later by the police.
No idea if it's true or not; could just be one of those internet bull rumourmill tales - but if you imagine it occurred in Florida, doesn't it seem exponentially more credible? |
