i pretty much agree with this..
but my point is darude   grrrrr!
this tune seriously ed trance, its sooo cheesy, commercial and overplayed. it was never all that good when you consider some of the tunes out there....this tune SUX
and as for the subsequent "different" tunes....
and its also disapointing that riva was butchered that tune was soooo good, i hate when vocals ruin a tune like that, its harder to think of the tune as the classic that it is :(
finally i have to add ian van dahl....i hate daytime radio- they just play the same about 20 times every single day:whip:
makes you grateful to have real trance, eh?

The worst moment in trance for me was the creation of EuroTrance. They should've kept that ty EuroDance separate from Trance forever, becuase now there are actually soooo many ty vocals over amazing beats...I'm convinced and focred to like them. |
utterly agree...
i.e. castles in the sky. I think the melody is lovely, at the beginning, but god.. the rest is stuck up someones behind.
cheers

"just a quick question for you guys, if darude - sandstorm is not trance then what is it? Paul van dyk has even played that track
i think the fact that it just became really popular and put on the radio makes you want to disasosiate(sp? hehe)with the track."
i dont know soo much of trance like you all but i really would like that you asnwer that guy question... seems interesting and you just say Darude isnt a dj but you never tell why he isnt... and you hate sandstorm... and and PVD played it and you love PVD :p |

| I ultimately died when they took my all time favourite song Airwave by Rank 1 and added those stupid ing "true love never dies" lyrics into it. AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was the song i heard in 99 which made me fall in love with trance... and after hearing that in a club (not a trance one) i wanted to shoot all those who were danceing to it.. then shoot the dj. And what topped off everything that night was a stupid gina telling me how much they loved the song... then continued singing to the lyrics as if those were what made the song special!! I also hate when Top 40 clubs and radio stations play what they consider the only trance songs out there (i.e darude-sandstorm). Its lame!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Whenever your listening to a liveset, and you hear a whistle coming in off beat.
Whenever the mix is just about to skyrocket to it's climax, and the stupid ing announcer has to give a shout out to the Go-Go dancers or some like that.
Whenever people tell me that Castles in the Sky is trance.
Whenever "Sandstorm" is played.
This type of thing happens all the time. |

| all the things you guys have listed are NOTHING. irrelevant. there's going to be some dark days for trance in the future, and it's all about it going mainstream in America. I'm not talking about teeny like Alice Deejay and whatnot, there's going to be a day when PVD, Tiesto, Oakenfold and all the other anthem djs get played on mainstream radio, mtv, till it's a fullblown trend like Hip hop. it's slowly happening, there really should be a concious effort to prevent this from happening, but the more concious you make your effort, the more mainstream it'll go. heh. |

well and then you will eventually get the clubs that play 'top-40' trance and the clubs that play 'underground' with all the underground people thinking they are better, since they liked trance for longer...
I am not excluding myself! I think of myself better than all the sandstorm and rapture fans out there, but honestly, i must admit that i did like Rapture and i used to like sandstorm, then they got overplayed, end of story...
I do not think that trance/ techno etc. will ever go mainstream. I do not believe that many people will like it. There will me more 'mainstream' trance, but in the end, i do not think it will be as big as hip-hop, just for the fact that trance does not appeal to a large enough socio-economic group in the US. Please consider, that one might think of trance as a more 'high class' music, due to the fact that it did not 'come out of the street' like hip-hop did... |

when I was at this so-called 'club' in my ty town and asked the DJ(if I should even call him this) to play some trance, and his response (gasp) : "East coast or West coast, cause they're different."
