iMac and Firewire 410 issue

Just purchased a new iMac with the 2.8 dual intel and plenty of RAM. It worked wonderfully for a few days, and then I decided to install my new ipod nano. During the transfer of some songs, the sound cut out completely on an mp3 that was playing.
The firewire 410 interface says it's getting sound in the software return section, but there is nothing coming through the output. I have the firewire as the output for all sounds on the computer, although in the system preferences it states the firewire 410 does not have any output settings. WTF!!! Someone please help! All the drivers are up to date for my mac and the firewire 410, and all the connections are in place. |

1. Can you launch your FW Control Panel? If yes, then it is working "fine".
2. If you can launch the Control Panel, simply move the fader(s) for the main output down and then back up.
I have seen this issue before on a Mac Pro and just moving the fader(s) in the CP brought the audio back. |
