holy mother of a synth. i've been really happy with my virusti lately and a lot of people have complimented me on my level of productions as of late but i got to tell ya the andromedia's bass and modultion control gives everything the virus lacks.
i've been on the hunt for a voyager for about 2 mos now with no good deals a float, now my eyes have changed direction, if you haven't played with this synth yet, go down to your guitar center or where-ever and enjoy the VCO of a vintage analogue - moog but the ease of an LCD screen.
**warning - not suitable for people who are poor, could cause suicide **

If you're after great punchy bass, that no Virus ti or any of the digital synths are capable of, do yourself a favour and check out the
Studio electronic's SE1x or the CODE, they rock for bass. SE1x is simmilar to a moog, and i like it better than andromeda for bass. If you have a chance check it out. SE-1X is better for bass, Voyager is better for everything else. In fact the SE-1x is the best bass-synth ever (at least my opinion). Reason for this is that while you change the the pulseform in the oscillators with a pot in the Voyager, SE-1 has three pulseforms in each oscillator (saw, tri & square). These are controlled by switch-buttons for each, so you can have all three waveforms working at the same time. This produces a rock solid bottom

| i remember years back when the andromeda came out i was drooling in utter amazement at how crazy and complex this synth is. By present though, i don't really see the need why i'd want one. Software has me covered by all angles. (thats just my personal prefrence of course. no need for a software bad, hardware good flame war :) ) |

No thanks to the A6 - I remember when it came out (was working in a pro audio shop) and we got them first, which was a big mistake.
I have 50% come back with all manner of faults and they just never worked properly. We spent a whole saturday once just trying to get a demo version that would work flawlessly, and only just suceeded, for some muppet to come in a break it within hours.
Maybe they're sorted now but I will not go near another ever. In fact if I see one in a studio, I get quite violent.:whip:
The se1x is badass - there is really nothing like it (except maybe the moog viyager is close) but it's alot of money for a one trick pony (bass only).
The moog voyager is just incredible but don't forget the cheaper rack version - it doesn't quite have all the features but still sounds great and is very versatile. |

i think thats why there is so much p.r. for the a6 this month.... all of the p.r. is saying all the bugs have been fixed. i heard hte same thing about all the original versions, hopefully its been fixed.
also i never see voyager rack mounts for sale, i'm actually having trouble finding what its missing from the keyboard vers... |

The looks of that thing is just amazing imo. I heard a demo mp3 on the thrillseekers forum that really impressed me..
I have always wanted to buy it, but have never could afford something like that - before now. I'm on the hunt for my first hardware synth, and I was toying with the idea of getting this.
Problem is that I'm really anxious about how stable it is, and if I would possibly be buying a faulty unit. (after reading about numerous issues)
I will have to buy it from France, because here in Norway it's MUCH more expensive, for some reason. I'm talking 1500$ more in fact, after taxes. :stongue:
And I don't see myself shipping this huge thing back to France in case there is something wrong with it. That would be massively expensive alone.
It would be a dream, though, having one of these fully working, but it looks like I will be buying VA instead. |
