the detail about detainees not being allowed lawyers, as lawyers would interfere with the depravity of their operation, was just as offensive.
At the same time I find it repulsing, I know this is common in my own country. However, rather than just punishing all those involved, it's important to find out what's behind this kind of behaviour.
This doesn't seem to be exclusively an American thing, given that (unfortunately) torture has been part of our History for quite some time.
