Just found out today. Was playing cricket on Saturday and I landed awkwardly on my left knee trying to dive for a ball (caught it--YAY!).
I'm really nervous now, aside from the fact that I can't walk properly, the doc says the ligament will never heal, but that at least I won't need surgery! WTF never thought I'd hurt myself this badly! :(
I hope I can at least dance at LoL! :(
times like this I wish I wasn't single :( |

I blew my PCL, LCL and tore a fragment of my ACL all in one shot ending my hockey career.
Best advice is to pay attention to what the doctor's say and take their full recommendation's on everything. |

Hey fahad really sorry to hear about your injury....Well i didnt have any PCL related injuries but what i did was tore half of my Achilles Tendon :( well i could barely walk...What my doc did was advised me to take physiotherapy you get something like 20 visits free thru OHIP so i did those and paid for 20 more from my own pocket.Which was something like $20/visit.Well honestly physiotherapy did wonders for me and ask your doc if its right for you.
Here's what my injury looks like:-

The tendons and median nerve in my right wrist got completely severed due to a HUGE laceration caused my glass. They were hanging out of my wrist and were stitched back together.
The doctor was VERY worried about whether I was going to get any feeling or mobility back in my hand. I couldn't even hold a pencil for a month after the cast came off.
I knew the only way I had a chance in hell of getting it to heal better was to live ultra healthy. Eating and sleeping really well and running every morning (however wouldn't recommend the running part to you!). This was all during what was supposed to be my last year in elec eng but I had to drop a couple of courses because of this. That sucked.
Now, not even a year after the accident I am:
Playing hockey, golf and tennis all to a level at or BETTER than before
(all require lots of wrist stability and dexterity) and I am lifting more than I was before in the gym at this point than before the accident.
Have faith in yourself man.
Get well. |

Thanks for the support and shouts of encouragement, everyone! I'm def not gonna let this pull me down but yeah, I'll be grilling the dr and physio to make sure they put me on target to play my casual sports.
So, other than Chris & Sasha no other knee injuries, eh? Damn, some of u warriors have some vicious stories! :eyes:
Apparently, dr said that PCL tears are fairly common and that 85% of NFLers and many other hockey, bballers, and tennis players have torn PCLs with successful sports careers. Haven't done any research yet so thought I'd start by asking around here... |

Investigate laser therapy. Talk to your chiropractor if he/she is a TheraLase certified practioner.
This technology does WONDERS... it completely healed my shin splint and heel spur problems, and there are a million other things it helps with.
Amazing benefits, what it can do for you.
I strongly recommend to see if this kind of treatment can in anyway help this problem and heal it for you (quicker or entirely over time).
http://www.theralase.com/
The website should list practitioner's in cities that have them. :)
I'll mention that you torn your PCL to my chiropractor as well when I see him tomorrow or the next day. He will know immediately off the top of his head if this could be of any benefit to you Fahad.
Sorry to hear this btw. :(
edit: mini list of benefits...
| quote: |
Laser Benefits
* Non-Toxic
* Non-Invasive
* Easy to Apply
* No Side Effects or Pain
* Extremely Safe
* Cost Effective for Practitioner and Patient
* Highly Effective for Patient (>90% efficacy)
* Growing Acceptance of Laser Technology
* Superior Alternative to: Analgesics, NSAID’s, Other Medications, Other Modalities
* Reduces Need for Surgery
* Virtually No Contra-Indications
Therapeutic Laser Biological Effects
Rapid Cell Growth – Laser light accelerates cellular reproduction and growth.
Faster Wound Healing – Laser light stimulates fibroblast development and accelerates collagen synthesis in damaged tissue.
Increased Metabolic Activity – Higher outputs of specific enzymes, greater oxygen and food particle loads for blood cells and thus greater production of the basic food source for cells, Adenosine Tri-Phosphate (ATP).
Reduced Fibrous Tissue Formation – Laser light reduces the formation of scar tissue following tissue damage from: cuts, scratches, burns or post surgery.
Anti-Inflammatory Action – Laser light reduces swelling caused by bruising or inflammation of joints to give enhanced joint mobility.
Increased Vascular Activity – Laser light induces temporary vasodilation increasing blood flow to damaged areas.
Stimulated Nerve Function – Slow recovery of nerve function in damaged tissue can result in “dead” limbs or numb areas. Laser light speeds the process of nerve cell reconnection to bring the numb areas back to life. |

Stay focused and repeat to yourself everynite that you're getting healed faster and faster ... You can also try "Meditation", it has helped alot of people get better much faster than expected .
