as for the internet, again, im pretty sure Hippies didnt make it. |
Nope, nerds did.
Nerds are the ultimate engine of social change. Obsessive types working on technical problems and inventing stuff. Technology marches along, wealth increases, and political change follows from those. |

Yeah, at least in the short term.
Ideologies and leaders pass in and out of fashion quite quickly, but technologies and the wealth-creating power and social change that they bring about tend to stick around.
[One example: The idea that a culture might return to abstinence until marriage as a universal, "enforced" social norm in the presence of cheap, widely available birth control is laughable.] |

i live in ottawa. a city populated by useless and lazy gov't employees (also known as employees of club fed), hard working intelligent individuals (such as myself), and useless wit protesters who will protest anything and everything to give their lives meaning.
they show up to these events sporting swim goggles and gas masks (indicates presumption that they are going to piss of the cops enough to get peppersprayed and tear gassed) and balaclavas so that if they get caught on camera vandalizng property they cant get in for it. they smash up publick property, spray paint on buildings and cars, spit, swear, assault and taunt police and then they wonder why they get beaten, pepper sprayed and tear gassed? they are a bunch of in amateurs. 3/4 of them have no idea why they are even protesting. I have friends that will go out and protest against the protesters just for s and giggles. my favorites were my buddies "I love bush" sign that had a giant hair box on it... or the "raise tuition fees for stupid arts students" that one got rave reviews by the CBC lol.
the only protesters i like are the pot legalizers. they are too baked to cause . so they just do drum clinics and circle jerks on parliment hill while smokin fatties..... never any problems with them.
but you mention the buzz words like "G8", "Capitalism", "Globalization", "WTO", or "Ramen Noodles" All hell breaks loose. and the army of retards decends from all corners of ty neighboorhoods infested with un employed bums and squatters from around the city..... (See Vanier and Bayshore on Wikkipedia...)
protesters.... them right in their stupid asses.......

it will give you solace to know that alot of them got tear gassed, pepper sprayed and shot with rubber bullets during the confrontation in which they were hurtling rocks, full water bottles and hitting riot squad members with sticks....... |

| I have hippie friends, they aren't so bad. I even participated in a hippie-esque wedding two weeks ago and surprisingly I had a fantastic time. |
