for inside the clubs, always have the iso at a higher rate and a quicker shutter speed, flash usually isnt required for lighting shots, but for people i generally have it on........red eye reduction is awesome for all the gurners :p

I like how Armin is just dancing behind the decks. Doesn't look like he's touching anything while the track "goes back". Pre-recorded?

For whoever suggested canon EOS, it's too damn big for the purpose of happy snaps.

really it depends on what u want the camera for.

Here is a question (odd question...but) - I used to take my Sony TRV-8 (mini DV camcorder) to parties and such and get *really good* video footage, and the audio was great. This was back in 2000-2001. I took it to probably 20 parties, festivals, raves during that time, and I compiled my footage into a documentary later. The video was excellent quality since it was true DV. Later, I started having trouble as promoters were searching bags at the entrance to clubs and venues and telling me I couldn't take my cam in. So I just don't take it anymore — BUT, now everybody takes "regular" digital cameras that have built-in video capability....but the video AND audio isn't nearly on par of that with a real DV cam or a DVD video cam.

My question is - now that promoters are basically "letting" people take these little digital cameras into venues *knowing* they can take video footage, and audio footage, do they still have a problem with people bringing REAL video cameras/camcorders into the venue vs. the little SD or flash ram digital camera that everybody has OR cellphone, which they will usually let you take in. They have mini-DVD style camcorders now and small mini-DV cams that will fit in your pockets, much better of a video camera than a standard Digital camera, and the audio quality is much better too since they have a real studio mic built in...

These cams are usually a tad bit larger than a little digital camera, so they would be harder to put in your pocket (I used to bring mine in a backpack) - but alot of promoters are not letting backpacks into parties/clubs now, and searching them if they do - I just don't know if the idea of a taking a REAL video camera (mini DV or DVD-R) cam is quite accepted with the clubs/promoters/security yet.... anybody have experience with this in recent times? What's the current consensus about this?

most semi-big/big events will allow bags, however they WILL search them and will either deny you access, or hold it til the end of the show if you have anything more professional than non-slr camera or cellphone
