Basmati rice is of Indian origin not Iranian. It is one of the traditional Indian superior quality rice and is usually quite expensive compared to other varieties.

I'm aware of that. :)
But whenever I think of Iranian food I think of Basmati Rice, mainly because whenever I go to an Iranian resto, it's always on the menu and they serve it with everything.

some of you people need a lesson on what "stereotype" means.

saying black people eat watermelon is a stereotype. saying that Greeks eat feta and olives is just common knowledge because it's part of their cuisine. ;)
