Hallo! My friend is going to be in Munich from August 26-30. I was just wondering if there is anywhere that he can get REAL absinthe? I want him to bring some back so I can try it! From what I understand, most of the absinthe is not genuine (it contains only 40% alcohol and does not have the real absinthe effects).
Also, if there are any events or meetups or cool activities going on, let me know.
Dankeeeee!
:)

Hi Katie,
You can get Absinth with up to 80% alcohol. The percentage of "Thujon" (what makes the "durg" effect) is sooo low in Germany, that you would have died of an alcohol poisoning before you would feel any effect, which is the reason why they re-legalised it at all. I heard that Asinth with a little bit more Thujon can be bought in eastern Europe but I think this is a myth too...
But bring your friends some of the 80% absinth - they will feel like on drugs after two of them... :toothless
Btw: Take a small glass with 1/3 absinth, put a spoon with a sugar cube on top of it, put absinth over the cube and light it. As soon as all the sugar has melted into the glass, take the spoon, stir the whole thing up and fill the glass up with cold water and drink it all at once. :D |

Hahahaha. You can come to Toronto, and I will go to Germany. We can trade houses, okay?
My friend (Cosmic Fur) is in Munich now and says that the weather is awesome. I hope that he manages to find the good alcohol to bring back! |

Rolf?!
[edit]Captain Subtext here for our English speaking friends: After the reunification of Germany, the government/ postal services decided that it was necessary to increase the length of the Zip codes. They used to be four digits long, but were increased to five. Rolf was the mascot used during the campaign educating citizens on the change.[/edit] |
