I am curious as to how you would rate your music scene in Australia. I am quite involved over on this part of the world and hope there is something for me when i arrive.... :)
My husband is from Sydney and we plan on moving there eventually. I will visiting for a month next year....tell me about your music????

seems to be quite the rivalry - u guys really crazi about your digs against other cities ;) lol - not quite used to that....
I like all kinds of music - how bout just music / electronic in general - starting with house or prog. house....and well trance of course... |

haha Id personally rather go live in Canada.. But then again iv been away from home before and theres no place quite like it.
I wouldn't say we're rivals with other parts of our country, I'm a brissy boy myself but id love to go to Melbourne sometime.. The nightlife and electronic music scene is suppose to be pretty awesome there.
Then again the Gold Coast in Brisbane has seen its fair share of good DJs also.. Trance/House/etc. (Desyn Mesiello (sp?), Armin Van Buuren, Paolo Mojo just swung by kind of recently.)
As far as 'lets turn on the radio and see whats on', Be prepared to hear alot of .. TTTTTTTTTTTT. Rap/Pop/Boy bands/Mainstream crap etc.. just to be warned that most radio stations down here DO NOT play electronic music... Brings a tear to my eye. So if your coming down .. Make sure you have cds/vinyl/the internet so you can keep upto speed with EDM. We also do have some good record stores etc that stock EDM all around Australia.

i lived in toronto for a year. great live musik scene, but was lackin in the dance genre dept. ohh canada |

in melbourne kissfm is mainly edm. and also nova plays electrohouse a lot and has a radio show by john course and grant smilie. if youre into that. |

case in point, im not arguing which is better as i quite enjoy little old melbourne
just that there are a lot of people on this board, from melbourne, who will take every opportunity (sometimes even when there is none) to point out how much they think melbourne is better than sydney, imo it's about as retarded as when people try to debate which genre of music is better.

prog house isn't too big, we have a club night called habit, which happens every few months, quite a few peoples from TA play at that.
sweetchilli is also pretty good for prog nights
and we get internationals playing fairly regularly, so it's not all bad.
all the kiddies are still goin thru the electro fad up here tho and that's what you'll find most of in terms of dance music. |

i´m now in Bogota de Colombia, it has to have one of the most amazing night life scenes in teh entire world, Colombians know how to party! but i miss my Sydney after travelling for ten months, its the most amazing city in the world!! :(

95% of the time its some sydney sider bangin on startin the arguements - and the reason why ppl are so quick to jump and bang on about melb is cos the quality difference between the 2 cities is now huge. im going to sydney in a few weeks for work(unfort. mid-week) and can someone tell me where to go dancing? thats right, mid week in sydney...and i DONT want drag clubs pls... |
