hellouuu,

is it possible to take the harddisk from a notebook and connect it with a usual desktop pc and.. how does it work?

my laptops display broke tonight and now i cant see what im doing.

yes. just grab a 2.5inch Hard Disk enclosure. It will connect to your desktop via usb/firewire and show all the contents. :)
The cheap ones($20) usually have poor heat dissipation, so don't melt your disk in hopes of saving a few bucks.

it sounds like you still want to use the laptop, even though your lcd display is broken. If you have a VGA/DVI output on your laptop, you can connect your laptop to a regular monitor, and use that as your display.

like Suspicion said, those enclosures work fine. If you know a bit about computers, there are also the laptop to IDE converter wires where you can plug your laptop hard drive inside your computer. Those run a little bit cheaper than the enclosure devices.

good luck. :D

thanks alot. found some good looking enclosures on on amazon but even the expensive ones dont cost much more than 20 bucks i will probably check the reviews and grab the best one for that price :)

yes my notebook has vga output.. but does it work plug and play?

or do i have to switch the monitors under display's controll settings?

you can also send info from your laptop HD to your desktop HD via the LAN connectors using this;

if you want to transfer files quickly.
