Hey guys. Can you recommend me a good software backup solution to backup my files from my macbook pro to my external HD? I've tried carboncopycloner but I'm looking for other options. Is there anything that will live sync my two drives together so, literally, if I save onto my mac HD, it will simultaneously save onto the external drive as well?
Thanks guys. |

Don't know about a 'live sync' option, think that's more RAID-territory.
Anyway, Leopard will include a backup utility Time Machine. Might be worth the wait and upgrade.
Haven't read much about Carbon Copy Cloner, but
SuperDuper! got great reviews. The free version can do the most basic tasks and should be more than enough.
Just make a complete backup the first time and set it to do increments every day/couple of days/week.
It can also make the external drive bootable. If your main ones dies on you, you can boot from the external one with everything in place.
Good luck! :)

| Thanks man. Yeah, Leopard seems like it's gonna take care of this issue. |

I'm gonna wait and see what Leopard has to offer as well...
At my old job, we used Retrospect... and it would sync folders etc like you're talking about.
SuperDuper and CCC are really the same thing. they're a GUI for a built in OS X operation. the new CCC rocks my socks for full drive clones. (i do this with my macbook pro once a month) |
