00:30, that basline is nice, but that synth you just introduced needs work, maybe its "outdated," or it sounds too "generic" to me. The choice of notes and rhythem is nice, just the synth itself that needs more tweaking.
1:32, ... the break was kinda rough, add something to distract my attention from the melody
2:06, OHH!!! COOL!
2:14 COOLER!
2:25, aww i dont like that break either, leaves much to be desired... here you can also use something, effect, or another melody, to distract me from whats about to happen.
2:53, im loving the flow between the different instruments, but what defiantly can be improved is the synth. add some compression maybe, layer the synth with more distortion some verb, maybe a delay. wash it out...
4:03, i liked this break, flowed nicely.
5:05: did you introduce a new insturment here? I'd bring this inturment in at an earlier time, it could help fill out the rest of the song
Overall, i feel the main area that would need the most immediate attention would be the quality of the synth... the sounds themselves could be more specialized for your style, which could strengthen the melody and help make it more memorable. From there, introduce more drums, to help fill in a little "blank space" -> this too is usually my problem! I always find myself more focused on the direction of the melody and the quality of the synth, over the layering of the drums.
Other then that you got a pretty nice tune going on there, keep it up! |
