Unknown Tracks Guidelines

inconspicuous
More & more often, people are posting either descriptions of tracks without samples, or uploading samples to sendspace, yousendit, etc. It just fills up the forum with useless posts, as no one can ID something they haven't heard, and almost no one is going to bother listening to samples that take more than aren't embedded in a linked page.

I can't remember the last time I saw a mod post there, let alone close or delete a thread. Part of the problem is that the only guidelines are as follows:

1) Encode at NO GREATER than 24 Kbps /11025 Hz Stereo
2) Do NOT use Variable Bit Rate Encoding
3) KEEP the sample(s) UNDER 60 seconds!!!
4) MAX FILE SIZE = 250,000 BYTES

I really want to encourage you to move away from the sendspace/yousendit/etc. links because they don't last very long and then the forum will just have a bunch of unidentified tunes with dead links (which is useless).

It doesn't actually forbid the posts I mentioned before, and they're in threads that most people don't read, anyway. If you don't want to change it, ok, but if you want to get rid of these things, there needs to be a more noticeable & clear post regarding guidelines, and more moderation. only one of the mods for that forum has even posted in it in 2007 (3 posts total, most recent one in april).

Also, are the size/quality/length guidelines for files actually uploaded to the site, or are those meant to be for any & all samples posted in that section, regardless of the host? Obviously, if they're hosted by TA, it's a bandwidth issue, but if it's embedded from elsewhere, those could be loosened a bit, imo (at least the quality & size ones).
