| Okay so my best friend is getting married in Thailand next summer and he asked me to be his best man so I need to find the least expensive way there and any suggestions like would a direct flight be best or to get dropped off somewhere else and travel by train this is really important to me and I know a bunch of people here travel so any suggestions would be appreciated. |

Haha, good timing Peter... In the same boat as you buddy, but to the US, not Tailand. :D
Me and Cuzo are looking to possibly headdown to North Carolina come the first weekend in October to see some friends for 2 or 3 or 4 days, and I'd love to hear as well about any cheap airfare sites or info anyone has to offer/advise of.
We're thinking we'd leave from Buffallo on a Thurs or Friday, as getting from Buffaloo (US) to NC (US) would be cheaper than leaving from Toronto (CAN). And we'd head back prolly on a Sun or Monday.
Sorry for the mini-hijack ;)

check this out:
http://airfare.travelzoo.com/international-airfare/
travelzoo.com always finds the best deals from around the net and posts them all here. Typically a round trip from here to thailand will set you back $2000, but if you're lucky and catch a deal, you could even get it at half that. That page probably has nothing really for next year, but a few months in advance may have more options. (even flying out of new york or LA could be cheaper when everything is said and done) |

I've been booking flights for my managers recently, and I've realized that booking through airlines directly (i.e. Air Canada, United, Continental) is cheaper then using middleman websites (expedia, travelcuts, travelocity)
so I say, go directly to airline websites and compare |

There's cheap airfare to Hong Kong.
$299 each way + Tax (But from Vancouver). It works out to like $780 return from Vancover - Hong Kong.

Might be cheap enough to do that then find a cheap airfaire to Thailand. |

| if you're flying out of pearson then try this site: http://www.galatravels.com/ it uses openfares.com as a backend and has pretty good rates. also, try http://www.farecast.com/ some good deals and comparisons of fares from other sites. look into flying out of buffalo, that might be cheaper. |

ummm...I am in Thailand right now...The Island of Koh Samui, returned yesterday from the full moon party...which was MADNESS.
anyways, my suggestion is that you find a travel agency in Toronto that does bulk trips to asia, (go to Pacific mall for example) fly to either HK or Singapore. Keep in mind that May/jun/july is low season here so you can get a ticket to south Asia for approx 1100 - 1500. once you are in one of these majour hubs you can book a flight on either jetstar/air asia/bangkok airways from majour asian cities, and MANY of these flights will run you less than 150 Canadian for a return ticket.
IN Thailand the Canadian Currency makes a killing, you can eat live sleep and drink very well for very cheap.
In my case I flew Toronto - LA - Japan - Singapore for $1266 TOTAL in Singapore airlines (one of the best in the world) then once I was in Singapore I flew to Cambodia, Malaysia, Phuket, Samui, Bangkok and took a boat to Indonesia all for less than 150 Canadian each return. Very very cheap, and the earlier you book, the better deal you will get BY FAR.
PM me anytime and I can give you all the help you need, Ive been you and it is daughting, but it does not have to be it is more worth it than I could have ever imagined.
BTW Thailand is the greatest place in the world. |
