Zenit though they have had a good run, won admirers, have a load of cash, and will be rested compared to Rangers and all the rest. They should be prepared for a frustrating night which if they let that frustration manifest itself in over extension for a second expect Rangers to capitalise.

It is basically what they do.

OMG! Rangers got a shot off in the first half!

Yeah but as expected Rangers have been organised. And have had very decent chances. A bit more conviction and gers could have done well.

Pen claim was interesting though.

watcfhing it now... 0-0 in the second half.... the russian team isnt bad eh?
Ian
you have to think that if Zenit are going to get owt, it's going to come from Arshavin, and for Rangers, from maybe a set piece.

that 2nd goal was awesome. i am so glad rangers got raped.

Gers just seemed to go out like a damp squib!!! Entirely unexpected in the way they dropped their heads when they went 1-0 down. Crazy stuff in midfield. Loss of the ball there was criminal by the likes of Thomson.

In the end, the better team won.

Zenit was frustrated for a long time by stubborn and well organized Rangers defence, but one moment of genius from Arshavin and clinical finish from Denisov put Zenit up. Rangers lack of offensive flair couldn't create anything, and reduced to long ball attempts. Oh well.

Great finish. I knew the second goal was going to come after Zenit went ahead and Rangers were forced to push up. Even though the commentators on FSC wouldn't stop talking about Arshavin, I have to admit that he was brilliant throughout. Tekke, not so much, although he eventually provided the assist for Zenit's second. Another win in the battle against Anti-Football.

I don't know if the best team did. Rangers let Zenit play. Zenit weren't amazing or anything.

A very strange game, surreal in a lot of ways.

Ian
the team who tried to score harder won for sure. I think everyone expected Bayern & Fiorentina or Villarreal or someone more 'fancied' to get there & in the end it did lead to a weird final. next week will be worse though.

So how could Rangers be the better team if they let Zenit play? I agree, it was strange, but it was super one-sided in my opinion, and it needed the first goal to actually wake up Rangers and get them to attack (which they actually did pretty well). They may have actually scored if they had started attacking earlier in the match.
