Same with your mp3 quality, (under 160kbs I notice) but it really depends from the source, say if I ripped it down off vinyl and onto mp3 has a bit of 'character' to it compared to straight off a CD's wav file.
Which in of itself can be of varying quality like I mentioned.

Naturally, but the accepted norm for the mp3 vs wav debate is that the mp3s are always of the highest quality :)

No piece of technology (unless you're talking about professional gear) is going to do EXACTLY what you want, as the companies that produce them have to make the equipment according to the 'general' user base. MP3 players are VERY general now.

no i understand that POV. but there are hurdles for the general user towards subscribing or doing their own thing. its not easy, even for someone who generally knows something about computers.

everyone has their own worries, concerns. my mp3s would all sound like except for my TB Santa Cruz, it does so much that its funny that people pay 3000 more for a regular stereo, but its also really old and generally worthless. mp3s are a personal experience but they dont have to sound terrible.

ipods are fine, but they limit the ability to share music, which i know is paramount to those music moguls whom need money. but most people just want to share good sounding music - which is why mp3 players(dvds, cds, computers, vhs, tapes, etc) were invented|

iPods don't limit music though....iTunes does. That's a different discussion.

ipods....my ipod is acting up by displaying the wrong artwork on some tracks and it's pissing me off. i'm a person who NEEDS the artwork to be accurate and when i see a picture of "the transplants" on the tag of a radiohead track, it makes me feel negative inside.

So apparently Mr. Jobs is supposed to be announcing the new Apple IPOD today. :)

Anyone else heard about this?

the real question is, would this thread get this much attention if it were in the tech & gadget section

no, but that doesnt mean it shouldnt be there. no one responds to in there.

but tech nerds usually have a severe ego about stuff too, so its understandable|
