i make sure that death is on my mind almost constantly.
by keeping in mind the absolute nothing that it entails, every bit of life, even negative things become positive compared to death |

-Your death is always sitting by your side?
By my side, sitting in the chair right in front of me. I see death as a beautiful woman.
- What is she saying?
She is saying, "I'm going to kiss you," and I say to her, "Not now, please." But she says, "OK, not now - but pay attention and try to get the best of every moment because I am going to take you." And I say, "OK, thank you for giving me the most important advice in life - to live your moment fully."

I wasn't talking about living forever, which I kind of doubt will ever be possible. I'm talking about living much, much longer than the 100 years or so that people get (and that's if they're really lucky). I think it would be incredibly interesting to see all the changes that happened in the span of a thousand or ten thousand or a hundred thousand years.
Can you imagine what humans will be doing a million years from now, assuming they don't kill themselves? I don't think I can, but I'd really like to find out. |
Thats why I'm going into cryo storage.... |

If you want to live thousands of years you'll live on a hot planet with people fighting for resources. You might even experience the sun turning into a red giant (or whatever it's called) where you will have the unpleasant experience of burning to death. People are pretty much the same across time, yeah they'll change a bit here and there, they'll probably make cool things but that doesn't fascinate me. No thanks to a extra long life...plus if you believe in an afterlife there might be cooler stuff there. |

The sun won't turn into a red giant for another few billion years. So, no.

Yeah, and I bet TVs, computers, and space shuttles wouldn't have fascinated the Mesopotamian civilizations of ten thousand years ago, either.

most people arent afraid of death.
they're afraid of the pain before it or the feeling that they havent attained durable fulfillment before dying. |
