Vitalic's 'LA Rock 01' - Anyone tried mixing this?

Has anyone here tried mixing this tune into anything?

It's got one of those kicks that also has a snare that's slightly off beat and I'm finding it very hard to sound right when beatmatched with something else, as it just sounds like its not quite in time.

So, how do your guys tackle this kind of tune?

Not sure if this is feasible as I don't DJ (as you well know ;) ) but could you try bringing in LA Rock with a low pass filter only letting in the kick and bass so that the snare is inaudible. Then only open the filter up once you've eq'd the lows out of the tune your mixing out of?

Dont know if this makes sense or if it would work but there you go...

Not a bad idea... I'm sitting next to me decks right now, so I'm gonna give it a go and let you know.

Can't say I've ever really had any trouble with it!

I suppose it's just one of those tracks you allow a slightly rougher sounding mix with, the track itself is a bit rough around the edges so I don't think it really needs to sound absolutely spot on like a bit of Anjuna trance or whatever would

Fair do's - I'm happy with that then :)

amazing track, but I know exactly what you mean. Even when its on, it kind of sounds off. I hate tracks like that. The only way to mix those kinds of tracks is trust your beatmatch and don't get all platter happy trying to adjust when it doesn't need it mid mix.

Yeah that's the problem, I get it in what sounds ok(ish) and then I'm like "nah, that needs adjusting slightly" and then I end up just nudging it slightly and creating a proper trainwreck.

not everything has to be mixed, just slam it in
