Export selected track, import track archive in Cubase SX3

I always understood this function to take a highlighted track, export it out into an .xml file, where I could later import choosing track archive and it would import that track along with everything associated with it. What I'm after is to be able to highlight a track and export it out so when I later import it, it comes in exactly as it was in the original track, connected to whatever instrument it was connected to, and the channel for it in the mixer will still retain any plugins and settings.
I sware I did this in the past and it worked. Now if I export a selected track and import it, only the midi data comes in. It doesn't bring back in the VSTi that was connected to it, and the channel in the mixer has lost any effect VSTs or settings.
Is what I'm wanting able to be done? It would save a lot of time as sometimes you get a track just the way you want with all the effects and whatnot and having the ability to export the whole thing with everything intact and then be able to import it would be awesome. Maybe you can and I'm just doing something wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

| Surely someone has used this function before and can comment?? The help file in this regard is rather vague. |
