1 Town. 40 Kids. NO Adults.
Can they succeed where adults failed?
http://www.cbs.com/primetime/kid_nation/
Well, this reality TV show on CBS looks kinda interesting actually. I think I may actually find myself checking out the first couple episodes to see what I think.
Love the different concept they're using for a new reality TV show... sure beats another survivor like tv show.
Check out the CBS site above for an extended intro/commercial about the show...
What do yall think of this new series premise? Think it'll be interesting? |

^ sounds like it.
I think it'll be pretty stupid and the low brow US ratings will eat it up like every other bull reality show. |

No. On Big Bro ur stuck in an isolated house for 3 months w/ 14 other ppl.
These kids get dropped off in an abandoned town in the west and have to rebuild it and make it a functioning society (or try to)... something u def DONT do on Big B... ;)
Whole purpose of Big B is to do NOTHING for 3 months, save for in-fight, bicker, try to win competitions to stay in the games, and earn $500,000. :D
This is closer to Survivor than Big Brother... though its not exactly like survivor either with what is asked of them, and what they have to accomplish. No one is voted out of this new show. Thats not the purpose, to be the last person standing to win some money.
The purpose is the build a functioning society/town again out of that isolated location.
These kids have to form a government, committees, find and have labour for all the many needed classes of jobs to have a society that functions, etc, etc,
Think of the novel LORD OF THE FLIES... where all those kids get abandoned on that island and have to reestablish rules and order and society for themselves...
... it's like that, but for a reality TV show... hopefully with less anarchy too... but its kids, aged 8 years-old to 14 year-old... soo... doubtful. |

You know what? I will watch this, only because I've wanted to see something like this since I was a kid myself.
But it still looks like a typical heavily engineered reality TV scenario. And 40 kids/40 days isn't enough. That's just boot camp.
60 days, 100 kids and a handful of them put up a TV station. And they get to rename the town. Now we're talking. |

I dunno how I feel about this. I half wonder if this is healthy for their psyche's.
A child is meant to be care free... to be a CHILD.
Meh.
For entertainment sake though, it should be ok. |

It's still just a game in the end, that they are playing... just much more complicated for than king of the castle, and televised! |
