get used to what? as far as I remember I have a choice in technology I use

well I'm using Mic. Office 2007 for 3 months now on daily basis, especially Excel, Word and Outlook and nothing impresses me there

and progress, if I'm happy with an older version, so be it.

My brother installed a copy of it on my computer when he came up to visit a few weeks ago. Just kinda went ahead and put it on. lol.

Not sure if I'm pissed about that yet, or happy. :p

Haven't used Word since I apparently got it, but it sure looks different. I'll comment on how much I like it once I've used it for a reasonable amount of time.

It was through the MSDNAA Program. I didn't even know about it till they sent me an e-mail with the login credentials. Here's a snippet of the e-mail:

quote:

Welcome! You have been registered in your university/college ELMS
for MSDNAA online software system. Here you can download and
access a wide range of Microsoft developer tools, servers, and
platforms. There is no charge to download the software as long
as you are an eligible user in the System.

How Does it Work?

Your university/college is licensed under the MSDN Academic
Alliance Program which enables eligible students and faculty
members to access software available under the Program. e-academy
Inc., a partner of Microsoft, is providing ELMS for MSDNAA to you.
Simply log into the System using your username and password
included below and start browsing/ordering the software
available to you.

Your MSDNAA Online Software System can be found at:
http://msdn03.e-academy.com/utoronto_csengbus

Anyway, I just went on there, and found out MSDNAA don't offer Office 2007, so I'm left with the decision to buy. And my finger is itchy...

I love the MSDNAA Program. Through my school, I have access to all MS operating systems, including their servers. I also have access to viso and access, just not the regular office pack.

MSDNAA access is usually given only to students in top tier engineering or other technology related programs, so Margs may not be eligible.

UPDATE

www.theultimatesteal.CA

$64 for us for a full license.
$22 for a 1-year license.

Oh, and if you get this but aren't a student, and they check you, you'll be liable to pay Microsoft $899. So no funny business.

Office 2007 is a fine piece of software. While Microsoft may not be the best company, and some of their products may not be the best (and some downright suck, like say - Vista) - sometimes credit is due, where credit is due, and Office is a nice program.

2007 made some of my larger-reports last year a MUCH easier task to write, espeically when I have 40+ sources in a document, cross-references, etc - some things in 2007 became an instant breeze that would of been giving me a headache in 2003.

I really wish MS would realize that their strength is in products like this and made Linux versions of them - same goes for Visual Studio and the .NET Platform (although there is Mono...but its not the same)
