Figure I provide some love to my fellow student TA's (US-based, I think) who need MS Office 2007 and can't shell out $700 retail price.
MS is running a promo for students. If you got a student ID, enrolled in school, got .edu email you can get Office Ultimate 2007 for $60. Yes., that's $60 bux.

This is not a spam or gimmick, it's MS sponsored. I got no vested interest, just sharing some luv - ya thankless bums! :)
don't ever say I never did nuttin' for ya.

Most schools will allow you to purchase a version in book stores. The one here at UofI was only 65
Beware of this site and what happens if you try to scam in without being a student:
You must hold a valid email address at a U.S. educational institution ending in .edu (for example, [email protected]) AND be actively enrolled with at least 0.5 course load. Also, you must be able to provide proof of enrollment status (ie, student card) upon request by Microsoft. If you are unable to provide proof of enrollment, you will be required to pay the full retail price of Office Ultimate 2007 |

It seems so fishy.
Why would Microsoft offer this product through store.digitalriver.com |

^^ Yup. I agree... a NASDAQ traded company (digitialriver.com) is not to be trusted.
p.s. Lesson 1: do some research before jumping to conclusions.
pffffffft :o |

Microsoft just wants to get students hooked on the MS Office suite for cheap. When these students go into the working world, they'll be so accustomed to MS Office that they won't switch to any other office productivity software suite, which they'll have to buy at full price.
If you think about it, it's pretty much like drug dealing :toothless
So yeah, I'm pretty sure this is legit |

^^^ because sometimes it's just easier to pay $60 bux than scour the net for cracked version, which will be blocked by MS update service and will be major P.I.T.A. to keep running after it "calls home" and finds out it's been "blacklisted".
Not to mention all other reasons. If i could purchase it for $60 - I'd buy it. Alas, I'm not in school anymoar. :( Hence have to rely on my job to provide perpetual, non-expiring, corp edition (free) license. :D |
