Trying to finish a mixdown here in reason, but I feel so discombobulated on a few issues. I included a render of a few concepts ideas:
1. 1:50 arp (kinda like)
2. 3:11 thingamajig (pump it or dump it?)
3. 4:32 lead
4. 4:36 mood rhodes
5. 5:17 flute-thing melody (don't like so much)

see if you can hear something I can't,

You've been here long enough to know where the production forum is!

But the tune is fantastic in my opinion.

You'd get more feedback in production/promotions.

I have before, no replies... but I'd like actual producers to take a listen at the master and levels & what not :/
Thanks for the feedback though

if you'd like actual producers, you'll find them in the production studio

holy crap I can't believe I posted this in DJ Booth by accident.. sorry I meant to post it here

that percussive snare @ 54 seconds HAS to go... either than or change the sample.. or even just bring it in at 1:24

the arp @ 1:55 is good.. maybe add a very quiet delay.. filtered low, little feedback and repeating ever 2 steps... this really adds a lot to arps.

the thing @ 3:13 i'd suggest the delay again.. (dont try to make the delay stand out, make it really blend in with the synth, but have enough of it to add to the synth)

everything else sounds nice

wow.. thanks for the feedback, I've been wanting something like that but couldn't get anything other than "like it/don't like it"

Thanks a lot, I mean it!
Leon

btw that sample is a hihat/ride with mad delay

i would lower the levels of your high hats and also roll off up to about 9khz...the freaquencies take up too much and dont seem to fit in with the tune. This tune is more on the chilled side. So I suggest you take down some of those hats. Also your hats need some work...they are very simple and boring. Your bassline needs eqing as well. The one that comes in after the break.

As far as the track goes...well its not my kind of thing. I'm not to much into chillout/ambient stuff.

Keep it up though.

The kick is too hard hitting for this style of track (too much oomph in the mids, it's really slamming there, and this isn't that style of track). It's a good sample, but it doesn't fit in this track.

The bass groove for the first couple of minutes sounds excellent.

The arpeggio-leady sound that comes in at 2:10 (or maybe 1:50 I guess...Windows media player is giving me weird timings for this track, it changes every time...) sounds okay. It's a bit dry and possibly needs a bit more movement in some way. I'd try a few different sounds, wet it with a reverb some more. I'd change something about it.

That filter out/ fade out sounds too basic. Maybe leave a high background effect/ noise/ wind or something that doesn't filter out with everything else?

The new bass that is introduced when things get going again sounds out of tune to me, which is distracing.

Overall, there are some nice ideas. The main thing for me is the choice of kick sample. With the right sample working with that bassline at the start it'll sound fantastic. Then I'd personally keep working on finding a strong main melody, something that people can hum/sing long after the track has stopped playing. But that's just me.

Keep it up, some nice sounds and ideas here!
