There is no incentive whatsoever to even check on this and follow it. |
EXACTLY!!!! I couldn't have said it any better. |

well...certain settings on this league can't be changed at this point. it can't be changed to daily and the rosters can't be expanded either.
a new league could be setup with daily changes instead of weekly...and the existing draft could be imported so that rosters remain the same.
but, if you want expanded rosters and/or a switch from head-to-head to rotisserie, it means going through a new draft.
keep in mind that with an expanded roster, the draft takes quite a bit longer to complete. Also, in setting up a new league, all previous weeks worth of stats are out the window and it would start from now going forward. |

well, i take this league as a 'for fun' league just to see what ppl think.
next year we can make it normal with more roster spots and daily changes.
mark, i'm not sure if doing a completely new league, esp with a month almost done is a good idea, just finish this out and we can always do it again next year. |

I know settings can't be changed hence the idea for a whole new league. Personally, I think the expanded rosters (pg, g, sg, sf, f, f, pf, c, util, util or whatever it is) in head to head format is BY FAR the best (and most entertaining) way to do fantasy basketball. It allows for much more freedom which in turn creates more competition which in turn creates a lot more fun. The way the league is set up right now caters to the beginners of the beginners of the beginners. The options are so limited therefore I don't find there to be any sense of competition in this at all. I don't think doing a new league with a completely different draft would be that big of a hassle at this point. We've only played 10-12 games so far. There is still 5 more months left in the season + playoffs. The argument can be made that having had this brief preview we are in much better positions to pick (or pre-rank) our teams given how things have played out in the first couple weeks. IMO, this makes things a lot more interesting as well as competitive. The time it would take to do this is minimal at best. It takes all of 15 minutes to set your lineups for the week given who is playing and when etc etc. To me it seemed like the main issue for doing this format (as you said yourself when starting this thread Mark) was the time it would take to stay on top of this. As you have said in your recent posts it does not take up nearly as much time as you thought. We are talking a time commitment differential of like 10 minutes a week here.
Personally, I think the format we are in takes away from the fun of fantasy basketball and pretty much defeats the purpose of it completely.
This could be re-done very easily and quite quickly as well.
Next year is way too far away.

well, let's leave this one as is, since it's started and takes but 5 minutes a week to set the following week's roster.
if enough people want to start up another one, that's cool. we can do daily head-to-head, with expanded rosters. It means sitting through another 2+ hour draft though and several people missed the draft for this league ;) |

| I'm pretty happy with my team as is so I wouldn't mind skipping the draft. Daily head-to-head sounds more fun though. Right now there's no room for adjustments and the only reason I'd ever switch my starting line up is due to injuries (which would me big time if say, Camby gets injured on Tuesday). |

Auto-draft is the way to go anyways. Just strategically pre-rank your players. I have never been in a league where a live draft has worked out well for everyone....it's impossible to make a live draft work with everyones different schedules. |

yeah, I don't want to ditch this league...but if people want to do another one, I'm game.
live draft is *so* much better, IMHO, though I agree it's really hard to schedule it so that it suits everyone.
you'll never really be "screwed" from autopick, it also doesn't allow you to really tailor your team after your first pick. e.g. you end up with a couple of guys who shoots 3's all day long...so you could normally focus your other picks on guys who will do well in other stat categories.
one guy autopicked in another draft I was in and ended up with three SG as his first picks, lol...needless to say, he's ed.
I'd do another league if it's live draft, but not so interested if it's autopick (although I'm happy to let others pre-rank and skip the draft and let the rest of us live draft :D).
so my big admission...daily format doesn't suck and a bigger roster is a bit more interesting. you win, daily format proponents! :D |

| For what it counts I'm game to continue this and start a new league, cause the daily changes makes up big time for the time it takes to draft your team. |
