Markus Schulz and Rank 1 Review

just got home, and the most entertaining part of the later half of the evening was the early breakfast. Don't know why but I had a crappy time toward the end, Markus played harder than he ever has in NYC (well that I've heard). Piet's set was eh and if it was just Markus the entire night it would have been infinitely better.

Good seeing some people (Tom,Gerard, Kelly, Andrew,Rory, Z,etc) hopefully next time the night as a whole wouldn't suck. I should suck it up and buy a ticket to the Netherlands or anywhere not NYC.

Just got home myself... I thought Markus had a nice set - although it went by really quickly. Near the beginning of Piet's set, my back started bothering me a lot, woke up on the wrong side of the bed i guess... I stuck it out and the set got really good. I don't know if Piet is used to slowing his set down, but I felt kind of cheated at the end of his set... it just died down and ended. No encore or anything. :( Some track highlights were Beautiful, Won't See Me Cry, Daydream intro, From inside the speaker etc... i'll have more tracks posted once I upload all my videos (2GB full  )

Time to get my costume ready for PVD... chimera... I think i was dancing next to you and your friends for a bit of the night, I met you at the Tyas party through Molly (i tried saying hi but I don't think you recognized me lol, oh well, always next time ;)).

Nap time! :tongue3

When Daydream powered through the speakers at the beginning of Markus's set, I knew it was gonna be a fantastic night. Hearing those Andy Moor vocals played so powerfully through the speakers, was just breathtaking.

Rank 1 really suprised me, def threw down the better set of the two, obviously played airwave. He was just banging it out like crazy, oh I remember As the Rush Comes, first time hearing it live so that was pretty special.

Overall, spectacular night overall.

I thought Markus' set was amazing, from start to finish. You could see he had lots of fun yesterday. I loved when he played New-York-City track, such an awesome tune

Rank 1 on the other hand, I just didn't feel Piet's set. After seeing him earlier this year in Twilo @ WMC in Miami, i had very high expectations (maybe because it was Armada-Night..) He absolutely destroyed Twilo with his closing set. Yesterday though, that was not the case. Since Piet & Benno were both there, i was really hoping for a live-set..

but..i guess thats how it is, DJs' play differently in different places & different parts of this world. gotta get used to it lol.

good to see lots of TAs' !!

man i havent been out in a hot minute since ATB @ pacha and before that scot project in avalon in 03 ;[ miss it .. all i know is i had a great time as i always plan to. just to dance and enjoy the music , alyssa i didnt see u there u suck ;[ kat i saw u tho wewt. anyways does anyone know the ID from rank 1's intro track it was elite as i believe it was a vocal piano (instrument) "ill be waiting till this sky falls down till u come around baby" anyways its funny cuz i have the liveset from august 9th of his global broadcast and the set was almost the same as this but of course extended @ pacha.. but good none the less! awesome nite havent got to let loose like a fool in so long . i was the only white kid chillen with my asian posse downstairs on the mainfloor as always 2steppin myself to death trying to make each song come to life feet to beat beat to feet in black shirt skull in front in back says the truth is thy name embroided. crowd didnt seem so bad besides the asian dudes blocking me from there girlfriends when im not even trying to dance with anyone but myself other then that great nite!

if anyone has playlist much appreciated even tho knew most of ID's lazy gnite/morning whatever

p.s. o god do i love hard tunes bring em back to nyc ;[ good to hear somewhat hard beats o yea and more classic tunes we need! he dropped cafe del mare pretty leet o yea airwave was def amazing all i can hear is my boy yelling AIRWAVEEEEEEEE!! and no the rush comes is not classic. and some of you need to loosen up and accept some hard tracks here and there

deadmau5 - faxing berlin is a hot track

I had a great time. I took lots of pics and just one vid of Rank 1 towards the end. I was pretty drunk. We wen't out to smoke and I heard the first few notes of Daydream and I was like Markus is ON and we all went running for the dance floor :) It was a little tight in some areas but we were able to get around fine. Little dance room but we made due :P I was very impressed with Markus this time around being that I have not seen him live since like 2005 although I do listen to GDJB, it was a definite improvement from then. He played a few tracks I did not recognize.

An interview with Markus is in the works for the site I mod for. Will post it here too later ;) I enjoyed myself. To be honest I was feeling Markus' set more than Rank 1. Rank 1 was not bad at all but I kind of felt like his set didn't flow. He did play some good tracks. I am sure someone will have a tracklist up soon but I don't remember much....but some tracks played were Markus vs. Andy Moor - Daydream, Above & Beyond - Home, Paul van Dyk - New York City.

Breakfast at the Pom Pom dinner :P was nice and it hit the spot. I had a lovely time hanging out with you ladies. Pleasure seeing everyone. I got home at 6:30am slept for 2 hours and somehow I am still functioning hahah

I wonder if the set was recorded last night?
Now....let me get back to uploading. BRB

Also... wasn't sure... but I think one of them played Ben Brown - Love & Solace - Topher Jones Remix (I'm leaning more toward Markus on this one).

I don't think Markus played a bad set because it was a good set but honestly it felt like I was listening to GDJB (which I love). I don't like that his set was short, I hate Pacha and Rank 1's set didn't move me at all. I danced a lot but also walked around and sat down a lot. For me a good night is nonstop dancing and that didn't happen...I'm seriously going elsewhere to hear Markus in the future.

I had SUCH a great time. Markus continues to impress me lately (Stereo still wins for my fav set of his!!) but I def had a good time and was dancing, laughing and smiling til the end. I think (and hoping) that markus is becoming more comfortable playing in New York. I am becoming a huge fan of his (thanks to wai!!)

Got my Stereo poster signed which (for once) was actually a meaningful sig because it was just such a fantastic and memorable night in Montreal. (thanks to tall-ass gerrard for your lengthy arms, I couldnt have done that on my own) ;)

def drunk right alongside with z...haha there are **Huge** chunks of the night that have slipped my brain :nervous:  :toocool: all in all was worth heading out to the dreadful pacha. Rank was entertaining as well, but we left around 5 to get something to eat and settle the massive amounts of alcohol consumed.

more comments may be posted as the night slowly re-enters my brain. :tongue2 :toocool:
