6:40.. Home...
Its hard to put into words tonights performance, so ill quote something someone said to me as I was going to get a drink after about an hour of Marco being on decks.
"Blurr, Marco V is kicking.. my ass."
I think what the person who stopped me meant to say is, Marco V is kicking ass.
However you put it..
Marco V... ING... ROCKED.
So did the sound tonight in the mainroom.
He also dropped some Deadmau5.
I agree, Marco kicked ass.
More later... after a daynap.

uh-awe-some-zzzzzzzzzzz
Sux he only played two hours but what a two hours it was!!!!
Go there at 12:15am or so (planned on getting there at 11:45am, but baby duties arose last minute delaying my departure ;p). Koroma on and doing a solid job. Think he was playing Air for Life (again, ANTHEMS = NONONONONONONO), and then played a track that MarcoV had his own remix of (but not too big of an issue). This was all right when I first got there. He changed up the styles right around 12:30am and thought his 40 minutes were PERFECT for a lead-in, without changing up his sit to quickly from where it was when I first got there to lose energy. SOme openers fall in that trap. Know they need to end a certain way and don't set it up for a smooth ending and when they gt to the end of their the sudden shift kills the energy. I don't know exactly what time Koroma went on or not, but I did have one friend say, "Think he's playing a too energetic right now. It's 12:30 and I brought a bunch (10+) of people with me and they are already tired!" -- again, don't want to wear out that crowd. But, still, MAJOR props on the final half hour. Transitioning into Marco V can be a tricky task because he can play a multitude of styles righ off the bat, and think it went well. Make note, Marco started off at 130bpm. :)
MarcoV, what can I say. Started off amazing and fed off Koroma perfect, played amazing, and ended only two hours later. I wasn't ready for him to end!!!
Couple highlights:
Him playing Deadmau5, WHOO! I love Deadmau5! Top of my list for producers right now. Funny story to this one. Near the begining of Marco's set and he was just working the crowd into gear, Blurr and I were discussing how he should play when he opens for A&B. He was asking if he should "play like this?" referring to how MarcoV was starting off the set. My response was, "yeah, somewhat like this (insert other stuff)....just play a lot of Deadmau5, that'd be perfect!" ... not 10 seconds after I say that comes in Deadmau 5 - Faxing Berlin, lol.
Him totally shocking everyone (me, at least) and playing Loops and Tings Relooped in the heart of his set! Everyone went bonkers. I thought it was coming in and was like nah, but then the track busted out to it's main components. BONKERS I tell you! Would think that if he played it at all, it'd be an encore or something.
Anyhow, AWESOME set.
Only heard about 45 minutes of Taj's set, but I must admit he totally made me forget that Marco only played two hours! Taj set continued the energy of Marco's PERFECTLY and had the crowd going nuts. Still going nuts when I had to leave around 4am. I really, really, really, wish I could have stayed because I think it was turning out to be one of my fav Taj sets ever!!! I am sure there have been some other great ones, but I rarely get to stay too long during Taj's sets. THen again, I think will every damn set is awesome as long as you keep playing Ferry Corsten - Brain Box.
BTW, I didn't even realize Brain Box is what I know as Ferry Corsten - The Race, which is def the original name of the track (or should I say, Ferry Corsten - The Race (Official Bavaria City Race 2007 Anthem)). I love the track because the synths remind of old school racing games on the NES/SNES/Genesis!!!
For the hell of it, music video of the track and be seen here...

Great night. Bring Marco back, for an extended set!!!
One of the highlights of my life is when MarcoV played almost 5 1/2 hours at Ten15...was only scheduled for 2 1/2-3 that night I believe. This was in 2004. Spundae Memorial Day Party (Sunday/Monday). And Marco didn't stop, security stopped him. It was after 6am!! Crowd was still crazy full too. Was hoping he'd just want to keep on playing like that night. Certainly an energetic crowd to(last)night and Marco really seemed to be into everything. Oh well. I'll blame his entourage, lol. Or maybe Marco got hand cramps for signing like 500 things it seemed like, lol.

I thought this was in funnier than . I was happy to be up and about, recovering from last week, and just kinda going to person to person kidding on how to play.. I remember someone behind us screaming OMFG, F-ING deadmau5!!!! and we lol'ed over it. I've sampled Deadmau5, but havent really deciding on playing it in the mainroom. Hearing Marco play this and the bass that resonated from Faxing... expect to hear some Deadmau5 during my opening set for Above & Beyond.
Realizing now that I have less than 2 weeks to prepare, I have alot of tracks to research. I loved the way Marco built his set up. 130 BPM will probably be my starting point.

Man, I remember this night too. Awesome night. In retrospect to that night, I dont think anyone who was in the crowd last night was expecting Marco. I've never underestimated him since I have seen him overseas and here years ago... From his first track to the last, was a great set. I so was waiting for him to play Citidel. I wasent anticipating his ending either and hoped he would have played longer.
Marco's friends who attended, were super friendly also, Jacob I believe to be Marco's best friend (I didnt get his last name) commented on the 1015 and said they love the look and feel of the club, and how much interaction there is with the Dj and crowd. Both Jacobs wife and Marco's enjoyed themself greatly last night, and had no issues with anyone in the booth. Somehow, my conversation ended with Jacob last night with an invitation to DANCE VALLEY, to experience Marco there... If I do go, IM TAKING SOME OF YOU WITH ME!!!! ITS DANCE ING VALLEY. Whats super awsome too is Marco's friends will be returning for Above & Beyond night and will be in attendance for my opening set too...
One reason I come to 1015 weekly even when Im not playing is still to continue watching Djs perform. Being on the other side of things this time around, I was happy to be that close to him last night, Watching how he worked the mixer, watching how he killed highs lows and mids... he definitely does things differently than headliners I seen in the past. Basically everything he did was spot on. Its not everyday that your right there in the booth with Marco V.
Tracks I have on my mind right now are:
The Thrillseekers Feat Gina Dootson "By Your Side" [Mind One Remix] (Adjusted)
Signalrunners "Electric Sheep" (Anjunabeats)
Randy Boyer & Eric Tadla "Stemcell" [Static Blue vs. Nisona Remix] (Flashover Recordings) |

Damn missed this night and sooo wanted to go! Was so wiped out from a week of being sick after lovefest I played it safe and rested for ONE weekend in my life!!!
As for Deadmau5 I agree with ALL of you!!! ON FIRE RIGHT NOW!! I have even been playing these tracks successfully at the kiddies raves. I was worried at first because they are intelligent tracks that are not necessarily upfront and banging but they work marvolously! Jaded and Contact seem to be the rockers for me-Rizo can vouch for this!
Glad you all had a great night-see ya soon!!! |

Loved your T Shirt tho. | thanks, i had nothing to wear really and had just finished listening to sasha's essential mix where pete tong asks someone at the end (forgot who and still recovering to remember but maybe judge jules?) "what does your shirt say?" and he replies "I LIKE GIRLS" :p so i made it about 20 minutes before taking off to the city
