Exercise usually doesn't make people thinner (pg. 2)

this article is right on target... exercise won't help you lose weight.

Weight loss occurs in the kitchen, not in the gym.

exercise alone isn't supposed to make you thin. people are chubbers because they eat badly, eat too much and are lazy. Or two of the three.

Exercise can be the key to make you thinner, it worked pretty damn well for me - but you can't eat like a pig.

Things went like this.. I started to slightly improve my diet several months ago step by step.. a little less amount of everything, less cookies and sugary stuff, more fruit, soda replaced by water. I started losing a bit of weight, but not really a lot. By this time I didn't make any exercise at all. Lost maybe 5 kg at most in about 5 months.

The summer holidays came up, I started having lots more time to exercise.. started going to the beach, regularly playing beach soccer and beach volleyball almost every day, occasionally playing some outdoor 5-a-side soccer as well. Most importantly, I entered the gym, lots of cardio 2 times a week, some weight exercises as well. During this period, all this naturally pushed me to keep on improving my diet a little bit - but the changes in the exercising amount were much more radical than the changes in the diet.

Result? Lost 10 kg in this period of about 3 months, and now I feel like I don't need to lose any more weight, only maybe trade a little fat for muscular mass.

I know things can vary from person to person, but my personal experience leads me to think that exercising can be absolutely key to getting thinner. Not to underestimate the value of eating healthy.

Daily exercise and a healthy meal plan go hand in hand. Cut out heavily refined foods and you're well on your way to living a healthier life.

It will rev up your metabolism. But revving up your metabolism typically makes you want to eat more, and many people do eat more once they start exercising.

low bodyfat percentage is correlated with a high metabolism.. thus the lower your body fat the higher your metabolism and your caolorie consumption must go up in order to maintain your weight.

So fatter people have to eat less to lose or maintain their weight

Skinnier people have to eat more to gain or maintain their weight

this is obviously with respect to their body weight.

So you should overestimate your calorie consumption if your fat (whatever is on the food label probably add about 5 to 10 % or so because your body will metabolize it slower.)

and underestimate your calorie consumption if your trying to gain weight.

cardio vascular excercise simply creates a calorie deficit

I'm hungry non stop. Skinny people have it the worst, we are always hungry and we have to spend more on food to keep from shrinking into nothing.

I went on atkins and lost about 20Lbs in 2 months, without going to gym. Meanwhile, while working out 3 - 5 times a week few years ago, resulted in same losses after about 4 months. Now, it's a possibilty I was gaining muscle mass as weight was being lost, but fact nonetheless.

Once, I had a fight with my x-gf and in the process went nuts on fitness. Lost 35lbs in one month. People didn't recognize me, my clothes were as loose as sh!t in Jenna Jameson's bumhole, I felt great. Then we made up, I went back to "placid" lifestyle, gained it all back with interest in no time.

sucks. thanks for the article, if nothing else, it inspired me to at least start thinking about my food choices. (seriously)
