Review: John 00 Fleming @ Stereo

Before I start, I just want to say that if I'm breaking any rules by posting a review from an event in a different city, I'm sorry and it wasn't intended.

Alot of people on this board that I had met before leaving would have loved to hear what happened, so for you and everyone else, this is what it was :p. Navid (hardcore trancer) and I left Toronto around 9:40am, just missing rush hour. It took us record timing to get to Montreal but once we got into the city, saying the traffic was a mess would be the understatement of the year. We were stuck for atleast 2 hours because of an accident with no exit in site. We finally found our hotel (by pure luck lol) and crashed there until we would leave for Stereo which btw, opens at 2 am :gsmile:.

Now, before going into the club, I had heard that it is a top club worldwide so with that I was foolish enough to make assumptions that it was a huge complex, strict(er) than usual dress code and maybe stuck up stuff. Luckily enough, I was wrong about all three. The venue's decore reminds me alot of Footwork. If you've been to both, you can probably see the resemblance, the only difference being that Stereo has a much higher ceiling, is a larger room and a way bigger sound system. They also don't serve alcohol. The staff, like everyone we met in Montreal, seemed like they could not do enough for us.

J00F walked into the club around 3am, so Navid and I looked at each other saying ' man, there's no one here, if he goes on then it's kind of insulting'. He didn't go on, instead he chilled out in the DJ booth listening to Insomnia who was the opening/closing DJ for the night. I know she's a TA, so if you're reading this, great job. Some songs I remember were...
Aalto-'Five'
DJ Preach-'Broken Inside' (Hearing a Preach production in MTL :toocool: )
Bedrock-'Heaven Scent' (Greg Downey Remix)
Armin-'Control Freak' (Sander Van Doorn Remix)
Filo & Peri-'The Anthem'
Tiesto-'Lethal Industry' (Richard Durand Remix)

Around 3:45, it was time for the reason that we had made the journey. J00F came on and not only did he bring out the best in Canada's best sound system, he made everyone dance like tommorow would never come. This might have been the best set I have ever heard live, it was just so intense. I'm pretty sure he didn't play any tracks that he had played at Freedom, but some that I had noticed were...
Chakra-Opacity (Chakra new remix) :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop:<-Insanity!
Vibrasphere - Isolation
Solarscape - Zen (Alucard Remix)

Unfortunately, his set was just over 2 hours, but what a memorable time. He had to catch a plane to San Fran for love fest, so it probably explains alot. John never hesitated to take pics, talk to fans after his set which is always great to see. The look on his face when Navid told him we travelled from Toronto was pretty priceless.

We got back to the hotel around 7:30, grabbed breakfest, took a nap, and hit the road. Beautiful day to drive back with weather that could not have been better. All in all, a well spent 2 days with only good memories. If anyone who is reading this has not been to Montreal for a party, check it out because it is like a different world compared to Toronto (you make up your mind on how to interpret that).

Cheers ;)

Glad you had a good time in Montreal Spaniard! It's always a nice feeling when all that effort is actually worth it.

But next time you make an epic journey, to see a trance god, you call more friends ;) :p .

TRANCE lives through DJs like JOOF and few others.

It was such a unforgetable night and everything was just perfect,I really couldnt ask for more.Montreal rocked so much eventhough we didnt stay for that long.I will def be going there more often and the long drive is totally worth it.

J00F played such a good set, very smooth and flawless. The sound system at stereo is somethig on it is own.One of the best analogue systems that I have ever seen.

The crowd in Montreal is such a good crowd, very different from Toronto.Everyone there respects eachother no matter what and they truly love their music.

so here are the ratings

Music: 10/10

Stereo: 9.5/10 (didnt get a 10 since they dont have lasers :P

Crowd: 8.5/10

J00F: :eyespop: :eyespop:

Thanks Montreal for the good times and I shall be back very soon.
