SG1 > BSG

And let's not forget I love both but come on...let's be serious.

well, its each to their own obviously. but i always found SG1 to be VERY episodic, trekky, and "oooh, let's see which weird planet our heroes save today". the themes/concepts dealt with in BSG are much more serious and relevant imo.

lol. it's cos they wear cool spacesuits isn't it? c'mon, you've been seduced by that sexy fabric! they could tell you anything, and you would find it the most interesting thing ever, cos they are wearing cool spacesuits.

(lol, ive never seen it, but with a title as such as it possesses, im thinking space jumpsuits, aliens and hot girls)

haha. my comment was more in relation to how they deal with democracy, torture, freedom, terrorism etc. some of it derivative sure, but still powerful and contemporary nonetheless.

no, their space suits arent cool, and there are no aliens. time magazine doesnt give out "series of the year" awards for fluff ;)

Stargate was meant to be that. It leaves it wide open for many stories and the characters are fantastic. That's why it's survived for so long because like Star Trek it can go in so many ways yet still retain familiarity.

BSG is more drama oriented and feels like a linear game. You know what's basically going to happen so it's limited but in one way that can be a good thing as you know why you're watching it and what you want to see.

The big mistake they made is in season 3 when they just stretched it out and there were hardly any cylons. It basically felt like filler episodes for a series which can't live with fillers due to it's specific story. Also, the whole tension totally disappeared. It felt like 10 eps of just cruising around doing all. Pretty much what you touched on and we told you this while we were watching it ;)

That's why I like shows like Stargate more. I know they will be there, the filler eps are imho entertaining and you know something will happen in the next ep or the one after. Shows like BSG have no room for this.

apparently they blew their budget in the first 4 episodes or so, so kinda had to scale back on the cylons :( yet another parallel with my beloved B5.

yeah, and that's fair enough. i just prefer my fantasy tv shows to be more like books :)

well since they have a stargate that connects to different worlds that they have never been to before, thats kinda the point isn't it? :)

well i was reading a interview with the producers of bsg and they acknowledged some peoples dislikes of the filler espisodes and that have taken that feedback into the creation of the final season.

so i think expect you should expect a blockbuster finale season :eyes:

see, thats what i wanted to hear! :D ing wicked.

and really, the filler episodes were topnotch for what they were, its just that they weren't much. as drama i thought they were excellent, but that's obviously not what the show should focus on.

thanks for the tidbit mate, im hard as a rock now :)

Classic Dr. Who rapes both of 'em, especially the Fourth doctor!
