In that price range you will have a few options.. If you could possibly audition speakers somewhere around where you live - you should definitely bring a cd you know well, along with some of your own productions and listen to the speakers yourself.
Everyone will be looking for something different in their speakers, but if I was going to recommend you a pair - it would definitely be the focal solo 6.
Or even better - the twin 6! But it's all about what your after. The focals will be very accurate, clear in the highs, very detailed in the mids and well bodied in the lows (especially the twins!).
The tweeter will be "bright", but NOT fatiguing. A lot of people are raving about focal these days, and it's no wonder imo. :)

Eh, I have a pair of Dyn BM5as and they don't sound that pleasant to me. And pretty much every monitor I ever listened to will fatigue your ears over time, especially at higher amplitudes. The factor that most contributes to that are mixdowns that have disproportionately high amounts of energy in certain frequency ranges. No matter what speakers you listen on, thats going to fatigue your ears.
Reason why I like the Dyn BM5as? Almost the same reasons why I hate them. The tweeters are ridiculously sensitive to positioning. Just move your head a couple of inches to the left or right or raise yourself up/lower your self down a few inches - you can hear the phase change.
This is sometimes infuriating because if you don't sit still, or mix whilst leaning off to one side, it can totally throw all your panning off and it sounds when you move. A good thing because, it keeps you on your toes and it forces you to constantly refer to other sound systems.
Other reasons why I like Dynaudio. Their customer support in the UK is through TC and its really good - I really felt like they gave a damn about customer satisfaction and they went out of their way to replace my defective BM5as at their own cost.
Build quality is really good. My monitors feel like two solid lumps of wood and metal. There are tonnes of electronic fail safes to prevent driving the amp over capacity - there are heat sensors which shutdown the amp automatically to let it cool if you are baking it. The drivers automatically mute when you clip them. They are also small compared to most other monitors with 6.9 inch woofers (or larger) and deskspace is important to me.
Other than that, they sound wildly different in every room I've ever set them up in. Without a sub they can sound fairly weird at high levels - especially in small rooms with no acoustic treatment. Also they tend to produce horrid flutter echoes when in close proximity to walls and no bass trapping.
I also can't for the life of me figure out where the lower mid range is coming from and they sound top and bottom heavy to me - even compared to other 2 way systems like the ADAM P11a.
But I've gotten used to them now and I like them in a curious way. |

| And all off that just sums it up to: get your lazy ass out of your chairs and go to the shop to listen to the speakers on your own. Everybody has their own opinion and everybody likes a different set of speakers. |

i used to have the older version of those. The bass response is really not for dance music. YOu need the matching sub. |
