if the master meter isnt going over 0.0db then it wont have any clipping.

that isn't true


alot of vsts will add distotion if the signal being effected is too hot. JUst because your final output is under 0 , it still doesn't meaen you aren't adding artifacts by bad leveling

Yeah, there are some VSTs that might still clip, there wont be any clipping of the actual mixer channels though.

surely if a sound is being put into a floating point system then it wont clip? obviously a distorsion vst will add distorsion but this will not clip the mixer channels as already stated..
